Why McCain is toast
If he can't get traction at a time like this, when will he?

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/19/opinion/polls/main3951729.shtml

Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton hold slim leads over John McCain in a general-election match-up, according to a new CBS News poll. But McCain is doing better among independents than he was last month, and the presumptive Republican nominee has narrowed the gap between himself and Obama.

If the election were held today and Obama and McCain were the candidates, 48 percent of those surveyed say they would support Obama while 43 percent say they would support McCain. In February, Obama led McCain 50 percent to 38 percent.

If Clinton and McCain were the candidates, the New York senator receives 46 percent support to McCain's 44 percent.

3. I'm thinkin' he suddenly gets a big cash infusion to his campaign
Went to Iraq with Darth cheney? Same Iraq where a few BILLIONS in cash is unaccounted for? Yeah, I AM that cynical.

Gonzo went there just before he FINALLY got over himself and resigned. Why would an outgoing AG legitimately need to make that trip? He is NOT a man of action type. He was not about to open any special investigations. He is not a military (or any other type) genius. One might wonder if he went over to cash a hush money IOU from Darth.

4. To which I scream loudly: overconfidence is not our friend!

The need is to toast him in Nov., not to make any such assumptions now.

THEN we can :toast:

:hi:

5. is it possible that one reporter with his campaign, just one, ask this question:
Edited on Thu Mar-20-08 09:29 AM by predfan
When do you expect us to start paying for this war? If he expects we'll be in the Middle east for a hundred years, by what means will we finance this excursion? We can't run this war off the books forever.

Would someone ask that simple question?

6. McCain is toast because his message is "More of the Same"
Things have gotten so bad in the USA that even the FReepers know it.

No one making less than a Million/year believes the news any more;
this nation is in a DEPRESSION and everyone who works for a living
KNOWS it.

Literally EVERYTHING is worse than it was in 2000, and there is no end
to the downward trend in sight.

McCain wants to "stay the course", to maintain the policies which have
plunged our nation into this deep dark abyss.

Meanwhile, the average voter knows how bad things are, and is DESPERATE
for a change. At this point, -ANY- change is preferable to no change at all.

This bus is heading for a cliff- people want someone, ANYONE, to grab the wheel
and spin it hard to the left. If that person happens to be a woman or a black guy, so be it.
Middle America is ready to take whatever it can get.
