Are you in California?
Here in central NM, prices actually fell last week, from $3.15 to $3.12. Big woop.
Thanks for reminding me why I got a Korean econobox instead of an SUV.

at the pump these days, especially when somebody with a monster truck or large Saudi's Ultimate Vengeance is on the other side and ticking over $60 to my under $25 fillup.
I haven't owned anything with more than 4 cylinders since 1969, except for my dad's car for 3 weeks after he died. It had a 6 and I was appalled at how much gas it sucked up.

12. my neighbor has 2, yes 2 land yachts. One Huge Toyota something or other |
|
2 wheel drive btw----dumb move, people want to drive to Tahoe and 2 wheel drive ain't gonna cut it, so she puts that up for sale and in then in the mean time she buys some Chevy Land yacht. Ok so no one wants her Toyota Suv because of the 2 wheel drive so she ends up letting her newly licensed 16 year old daughter with a lead foot drive it.
Both are these vehicles were purchased with home equity loans, last time they borrowed $100k for the Chevy and a pool, the pool guy forgot to include the cost of the deck so that was an additional 10K and then her husband got laid off from intel and now has a job making 30% less a year. I really have no idea how they survive,

It costs me about $15 a week to fill up for my commutes. Then again, I commute on a motorcycle which gets about 45 mpg.

My expectations for a much lower price are more long term. My date for cheap oil is still a year and a half out. I wouldn't be at all surprised by a pretty quick lowering though. This financial mess we're in is going to shock us into some true economic activity, and one of those things will be much reduced demand for virtually everything. Prices will react.

14. Truckers are talking on the CB about a week long strike. Imagine |
|
how much 200 gallons of diesel fuel everyday is costing the owner operator truck driver. Diesel is already over $4.00 a gallon!

21. I own a Peterbilt with a 15 liter Catapillar diesel Eng. |

I make a living as an owner operator. Dsl fuel costs about 50 to 75 cents more a gallon than gas. Go figure. If I filled up here in Houston at $4 a gal, it would be $800.00. This recession is slowing down the amount of freight avail. out here. This means we truckers are competing for less freight, meaning the rates are not going up nearly enough with the price of fuel. My truck empty pulling a tlr gets 7mpg, loaded 5.5 - 6 mpg. My average cost per mile is 67 cents per mile just for fuel last month. IT SUX. Yes their is talk of a strike but I doubt it will happen. Our biz is to fragmented for it to b organized. enuff bitchin or now. If there is a big enuff srike organized i will be he first to join.

Mrs Giant Robot filled up the Korean made vehicle for $42 for 3/4 of a tank. Not sure how many gallons it was officially. Getting scary since we live from paycheck to paycheck.
