4. I'm more than a little angry at the LAPD union rep saying that

justice was not served. LAPD's idea of justice for her probably consists of a bullet to the head without benefit of trial.

Disclaimer: I am a middle-aged, middle-class white woman and a business owner and medical professional, but my experiences with LAPD over the last 26 years have not been what I expect of trained police professionals, to say the least. IMHO they are jackbooted thugs of the highest order.

This is how our system works. You don't have to like it, but that's the way it is.

She did everything that was expected of her by society. She still won't be allowed to vote. That's not to mention the other restrictions that will be placed on her even after being released from prison.

Keep in mind, her punishment does not end upon release. She'll carry her crime with her for the rest of her life and everyone knows it.
