Holy week my grandmother always reminded us to remember the patriots who died for freedom from evil
So regardless of religious thought, everyone can take a moment to remember Sean Connolly and the other 317 who gave their lives for freedom on Easter 1916.

1. As soon as I saw the title of your post
I knew you were talking about the Easter Rising.

Remember also Sean MacDiarmada (McDermott), executed by firing squad at Kilmainham Jail.

3. I looked him up and found these touching lines
"O branch that withered without age!

Would we could see you where you’re missed

Step airy on the Abbey stage

Play there ‘The Revolutionist’

Or fill with laughter pit and stalls

With Bartley Fallon’s croak and cry

What led you to those castle walls?

We mourn you Sean Connolly"

4. Thank you, I'd never seen that

Which is odd because growing up it might as well have been Matthew, Mark, Luke, Pearse, and John.
