Pastor arrested for attempted rape of adult relative.
Goodness gracious.

=======

The pastor of the First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City appeared Friday in 3rd District Court on charges he attempted to sexually assault a woman Sunday at his Midvale home.
Scott Weisser, 52, is charged with attempted rape, a first-degree felony, and class B misdemeanor assault in connection with the March 16 attack.
During Friday's court hearing, Weisser, who resigned this week as pastor, was declared indigent and a public defender was appointed to defend him.
A scheduling hearing is set for April 3 before Judge Stephen Roth. Weisser, meanwhile, remains at the Salt Lake County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail.
According to charging documents, Weisser entered a bedroom in the home and attempted to have sex with the woman, who repeatedly told him no and and fought him off. Weisser dragged her into a door jamb, causing slight abrasions to her hip, court documents said.
The woman is an adult relative of Weisser.

Almost as bad as a non-pastor trying to have sex with an adult relative against her will.

;)

Seriously, not good at all.

:(

Good to see you, though. That's something, right?

:hi:

2. Geez and baptists don't even forbid their pastors from being married, right?

4. That's just (most) Catholics
But even that is a matter of church discipline and not doctrine, so there are even today married Catholic priests (Orthodox or Anglican priests who converted).

So whatever happened to due process and the ideal that one is innocent until proven guilty? It probably doesn't matter that the adult relative is his wife who is having an affair. Not that this makes any excuse for the ALLEGED behavior. A first degree felony? Well, a "slight abrasion" may not be compelling enough evidence in court for the severity of the charge. It seems like it's the DA's play to try and get him to cop to a lesser charge. So, is anyone blameless in this case? Who knows...
