Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, who ordered Cuyahoga County to replace its touch-screen voting machines with a system of paper ballots and optical scanners for the March 4 presidential primary, has won an award for her courageousness by a national foundation.
Brunner was one of two winners this year of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award for challenging the reliability of electronic voting systems. Debra Bowen, California's secretary of state, also won.
"I am honored and humbled to receive this prestigious award," Brunner, a Democrat, said in a prepared statement. "I am grateful to be included among those whose legacies embody courageous public service."

You heard it here first but sometime in the not to distant future
Ohio Sec. of State Jennifer Brunner will be a real player nationally.
Jenny walked away from a successful law practice and a seat
as a Judge to clean up Blackwell's mess in this state and she is
doing an outstanding job so far. Yes she knows 2004 was dirty
and that Kerry won this state but can't talk about it in public but
as of now she has fired BOEmembers who wouldn't get with the
program, locked down EES voting machines after the last election
to be looked @ as being used in a crime, had a study done which
showed flaws in all the electronic voting machines, made early
mail voting a priority, and made sure all Ohio voters could vote
on a paper ballot. Oh by the way she has won the JFK profiles in courage
award too.
