Why the fuck are we still in Iraq? Because I REALLY WANNA KNOW! |
|
There's no fucking oil there - Sadaam inflated the numbers.
There's no fucking Al Queda there - just some fucked up band of bombers that blows things up every so often in Shiite neighborhoods.
There's no WMD's
There's no Sadaam
So why the fuck don't we just fucking leave?

5. Yes, I suppose this is true |
|
But there is only so much money they can make sucking off the government teat, like the mythical welfare queen that never existed until now...
Does anyone have any fucking idea how much goddamn money they are spending just to make 2 or 3 privately held corporations very happy.

8. Very true. All stated objectives have been completed. |
|
:redbox: Saddam has been removed (he was a *bad man*)
:redbox: 'Regime Change' has been a success.
:redbox: The WMD problem has been solved (by proving absolutely that there were fuck all to begin with)
:redbox: "Freedom and Democracy" have been established (too bad Iraqis can't leave their house without being killed or injured)
So, why indeed?

11. Oh I don't buy that Peak Oil Fearmongering |
|
Yes, there is a peak to the amount of oil relative to harvest cost.
There is oil, it will be more expensive to harvest, and soon we will turn to (gasp) Canada to give us oil. There isn't much there, but it's still cheap. And if we ever fucking get our dollar back up, we might be able to buy some. During that time we will diversify our energy sources, or corporations will go bankrupt. No corporation likes to go bankrupt.
The sooner we do this, the sooner we retain any semblance of a middle class in this country.

22. energy prices are going up and are going to keep going up. |
|
till the fossil fuels reach the point that they cost more to get than they are worth in energy.
I do hope that there are ways around such problems but looking at a lot of the alternatives they seem to me to be either just staying on fossil fuels while simply distracting us with stuff like hydrogen which only transfers the energy from other sources. biofuels has the same problem plus the fact that most agriculture that we need to make it needs plenty of fuel to grow the crops, and that the crops used for fuel will take food out of peoples mouths, and how many of the chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other agricultural chemicals need oil to be made. as for solar can we provide all the energy we need using that remember that we need to provide all the power from that from that for a population of the planet that would be bigger than it is now. or are you planning to just fix it for us and let the rest of the world starve.
the problem is that energy is only one of the problems we face. overpopulation, loss of food supply, and plenty of other problems will make a perfect storm that I dont see a way out.

|
And isn't that why our money has been wasted there, while our country's infrastructure is falling apart? And what about that monster bunker they call a U.S. embassy? They built for permanent presence in Iraq.

17. My take: It was one big sham |
|
It was about oil - but then again it wasn't.
They sell their oil company buddies this war on the grounds that they could control this HUGE TRACT OF LAND with oil.
They sell us that there are WMD's pointed right at us.
They invade and sell the contracts to their old KBR and Haliburton buddies.
Dick and W have a lot of stock in this company. Their stock goes through the fucking roof, even tho there is no oil there.
They take the money and run.
We get stuck with the bill.
We're talking the sleaziest of salesmen here...

18. Dick Cheney is an evil piece of shit |
|
And he fears for nothing. He's got a piece of shit for a heart, mended with nails and scotch tape, but he's still doing evil. Fears nothing. Pure, 100% sociopath. He's the prototype of a true conservative, sociopathic to the gills.

16. there's nothing there... for you (or other americans) |
|
but since you (or other americans) don't matter much on the whole, there would be little reason available to explain why we're still there.
but if you were unbelievably rich and connected...
(and assuming you are as clever as i assume you are, i think you can clearly answer why we are still there from that alone)
