***Bush Carries Biggest Burden ... Bush Suffers More Than Anyone***

Dick Cheney: Bush Carries Biggest Burden of Iraq War

"The president carries the biggest burden, obviously," Cheney said. "He's the one who has to make the decision to commit young Americans."

Laura Bush: No One Suffers More Than Bush And I Do Over Iraq

"No one suffers more than their president and I do when we watch this, and certainly the commander in chief, who has asked our military to go into harm's way."

1. I read that quote by cheney yesterday -
made me ill. He also made it a point to make reference to "volunteer" to put on the uniform; "all-volunteer" military, etc. I don't think anyone volunteered to be stop-lossed and 3, 4, 5 tours of duty in Iraq. bush, obviously burdened, spent yesterday groping the easter bunny.

2. Cheney's words make a mockery of those who truly carry a burden
They are merely words of lip service to try to elicit sympathy for a man who appears to not feel anything for or about the millions who have suffered and died. However, at some level I feel this has gotten to him, for even a sociopath may have buried deep within his psyche some tiny spark of human empathy and kindness, if only because of the interconnectedness of all things. You can see in his face and demeanor that the stress of the job has aged George and very probably started him back on his abusive course of taking drugs/alcohol to escape from the huge mess he's made.

5. I wonder if Junior's thought about how it feels to be 20 years old,
facing the rest of your life without an arm or leg. Probably not since he's a narcissist. Cheney and Laura are saying exactly what he wants to hear. It's all about him.

I chose that example to focus on the plight of the almost 30,000 wounded. Many of them have terrible injuries that will be with them every day for the rest of their lives.

26. Bush the Narcissist (from April 2004)
Bush the Narcissist
The Empire is His Mirror
By MICHAEL LEON

Most strikingly, the Meet the Pres appearance offered a stark illustration of a defining feature of the man_Bush has a narcissistic personality disorder marked with authoritarian instincts, surprising ignorance, and an anti-intellectual bent that create a figure inspiring revulsion and loathing among many Americans and most of the world, AKA Bush hating.

Note the following exchange:

Tim Russert: Are you prepared to lose?

President Bush: No, I'm not going to lose.

Most public officials would have made the American people the focus of the answer and replied with something like: "Should the American people decide to reelect me...." or "The American people believe in...." But not narcissistic George. It's all about him and his internal world. The way he said "No, I'm going to lose" was weird. Bush was expressing his fervent belief he will win, period, any way, the electorate be damned. Would not a normal psychology offered in reply some nod that the decision is up to the electorate? And the way he said it was strange in tone, as though he were in touch with some force who assured him of his victory.

In another question, Bush was asked about the false statements the administration made regarding Saddam's threat to America.

7. People Don't Give A Shit...
This regime has lies and distorts and the corporate media spews it without as much as a peep. The beltway village sheep value their access and their "get" and their "confidential sources" more than serving as the gatekeepers and fact checkers of our crumbling democracy. Many comply willingly to this game, others are intimidated...and the American public have been sold out for personal egos and riches.

Iraq is a perfect example as the networks continue to profit from this occupation and continues to get special favors from this regime to say black is white and day is night...and to repeat it so often that people either believe the propaganda or tune it out. That's the real game...the less people who care, the less who are paying attention to the dirty war that is going on and how its destroying the economic and military infrastructure of this country so Cheney's contracting buddies can rake in the cash and no one's the wiser.

One thing this corporate media can start doing is giving a more accurate "troop" number. There aren't 140,000 Americans under arms in that country...there are nearly 100,000 mercenaries who also are making Erik Prince a rich man. Iraqis can't tell or don't care the difference between a "contractor" and a regular military...and this fleecing and lawlessness is one of this country's greatest war crimes.

One hopes one day these criminals will suffer for all the grief they've unleashed on the world...and that once they are removed from power there's a real investigation into the REAL crimes that have occured. We must never forget and demand accountability.

22. Bush: "I've got God's shoulder to cry on"
I've got God's shoulder to cry on. And I cry a lot, Bush told John Draper, author of Dead Certain: The Presidency of George W. Bush. I do a lot of crying in this job. I'll bet I've shed more tears than you can count, as president. I'll shed some tomorrow.

29. one of the saddest things I have ever read, said by anyone..
I would like to say this:

For a mature, intelligent adult to say this, about the Burden of War..(Cheney) just shows how selfish and self centered he is.

..The burden of what?,..death?
and the President suffers more?.(Laura).. than who?.
.How can people talk that way about death, destruction of lives, families, whole neighborhoods?...

32. The Obsenity that is Dick Cheney!
A number of days ago I opined that we ought to push our Bush-Cheney attentions to the background, as they seemed to have at last become irrelevant to the challenges ahead.

But leave it to Cheney to not be content to let my hatred simmer, under the hope that with enough time — say, 100 or so lifetimes — it might dissipate. This draft-dodger extraordinaire, this iconic definition of animated cowardice won’t let it alone. I “misunderestimated” the SOB.

I know, I know, Dick — “SO?”

Obscenity No. 1: “It places a special burden, obviously, on the families. We recognize, I think -- it's a reminder of the extent to which we're blessed with families who have sacrificed as they have. The President carries the biggest burden . . .” Like spending what should have been, were it not for you and The Decider, a lifetime filled with the average allotment of life’s trials and tribulations, hope and fears and joys now a too-soon eternity dead? continues ...

33. America's Burden ---> George W. Bush!
Bush: Violence in Iraq is a “positive moment”

President Bush gave warning yesterday that Iraq’s “fragile situation” required the US to maintain a strong military presence there, even as he defended the withdrawal of British troops from Basra, the scene of heavy fighting in recent days.

In an interview with The Times, he backed the Iraqi Government’s decision to “respond forcefully” to the spiralling violence by “criminal elements” and Shia extremists in Basra. “It was a very positive moment in the development of a sovereign nation that is willing to take on elements that believe they are beyond the law,” the President said.
