On Saturday, March 29th, "Lights Out America" encourages all families to turn off all non-essential lightining in their homes for one hour (from 8:00 to 9:00 PM) for climate change. http://www.lightsoutamerica.org/

7. Even then, there's flexibility. |
|
You can read a book using (say) 400 watts of general room lighting (say, eight downlights/can lights) or half a watt of LED "booklighting". Or any number of wattages in between.

but i know a lot of people who don't.

I buy the screwy-looking energy saving lightbulbs at Costco and have started recycling batteries. I'm part owner in a company that is an ENERGYSTAR(tm) partner.
Every little thing helps, and raising awareness plays a large role.

|

before I close my eyes and sleep.
Funny, I think something like this assumes people are leaving their lights on 24x7.

6. A lot of people leave lights on 24/7. |
|
Lazy, paranoid, scared of roaches, spoiled; there are a lot of reasons, none of them justifiable.
We could put a huge dent in the profits of the energy industry with conservation and efficiency, but, as a nation, we're not even trying.

11. Well, they are using CFL bulbs. And I sneak in and turn the lights out at |
|
my own bedtime. But they often wake up and turn them right back on.

|
don't seem to get the point. The community speaking out against global warming. The utility company NOTICING a drop in usage and GETTING a message. The satellite picture of a city like San Francisco going dark in support of MOTHER EARTH! Come on people!
