1. With the exception of maybe Sweden and the UK
the top 10 are like some of the smallest countries in the world.

I wonder if it's easier living in a country that has a total area of 108 acres (Vatican) vs 2,263,259,000 acres for the US?

6. That's interesting
I live in Germany and I'm from Montana - basically the same size but 800,000 in MT and 80 Million people in Germany. The biggest difference is how many people get around by foot and public transportation. It makes a lovely standard of living to have neighborhood markets and trains going to almost every little dorf/village. Montana caters to the vehicles - lots of strip malls and drive throughs. You can hardly walk anywhere.

I think a more concentrated population gives to a more socially concious one and in turn demands a more stable govt. then again - Chad is pretty small.....

7. In what part of Germany do you live?
I lived in Germany for four years and can't agree more about the transportation.

We currently have 3 guests from Germany and they ask every time we get in the car how far is it to our destination.

They can't believe we have to get on the highway to go just about everywhere.

We had another conversation about how you can hop on a train in any little city in Germany and go to any major capital in Europe. Impossible in the US!

4. Liechtenstein, Vatican, San Marino, Monaco, and Gibraltar (is that even a country?)...Please-
with only a few thousand people to govern, stability is almost assured..especially with no more than 2 degrees of separation (familiarity) among the population. With our 300+ million in the US, we're doing rather well in this regard.

10. Which is why
the US should be divided up into at least two countries.

something that should have been done after, or even before the Civil War.

the only "real" nation on the list above the u.k. is sweden, so the u.k. is number 2 by any reasonable person's understanding
