Today we learn that we sent nuclear triggers to Taiwan when all they really wanted were helicopter batteries.

Two years ago. And we **finally** answered the phone when the Taiwanese government kept calling and calling trying to return them.

Nuclear triggers. The REAL hard part to engineer to build a bomb. Sure, they were from the from the Sixties, but who cares? They'd work.

So many here thought the transshipping of six nukes from Minot to Barksdale was a sinister thing. Yeah, maybe it could have been.

More likely it was just like this. Pure, unadulterated stupidity and incompetence and Keystone Coppishness.

Pentagon Admits Mistaken Arms Shipment
March 25, 2008 - 4:24pm
By ROBERT BURNS
AP Military Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon announced Tuesday that the United States mistakenly shipped to Taiwan four electrical fuses designed for use on intercontinental ballistic missiles, but has since recovered them.

The error is particularly disturbing, officials said, because of its indirect link to nuclear weaponry and because of the sensitivity of U.S. arms sales to Taiwan, which China regularly denounces as provocative. The Defense Department said an investigation of the incident is under way.

At a news conference, Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne said the misshipped items were four electrical fuses for nose cone assemblies for ICBMs. He also said they were delivered to Taiwan in 2006 and had been sent instead of helicopter batteries that had been ordered by Taiwan.

Wynne said the investigation is meant to sort out what happened and how

6. hmmmmm, nuke triggers/helicopter batteries, hmmmmm
they probably look so much alike, one would have a time deciding which is which. Not only that, ICBM nuclear warhead detonating device,, reads alot like, Battery, Class/Group 27 12volt, that a person could get confused just trying to decipher a requisition.:wtf: :wtf: :wtf:
