Mugabe opponents 'forced to eat posters'
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 12:36 AM by Nutmegger
Intelligence officers have forced opponents of Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe to take down their election posters and eat them, a leading human rights group has claimed.

Amnesty International said three supporters of the Movement for Democratic Change were arrested on March 7 for putting up posters and later forced to chew, and swallow the posters in jail.

Amnesty's Zimbabwe researcher, Simeon Mawanza, told The Guardian that opposition supporters were also being systematically arrested without charge and denied food by authorities loyal to the president.

"We continue to receive reports of intimidation, harassment and violence against perceived supporters of opposition candidates - with many in rural regions fearful that there will be retribution after the elections," Ms Mawanza said.

1. A reminder that, even with Bushler dismantling and stealing everything, we have it pretty good
Mugabe is a much worse Bush than Bush.

Thank God for small favors. Zimbabwe would LOVE to have someone as "great" as Bush...well at least compared to what they've got.

There is the school of thought that says that if Bush was leader of Zimbabwe, he'd act like Mugabe and it is very possible that if he were Emperor of Amerika, Mugabe would recognize the need to "tread more softly" with his depredation and act like Bush does now.
