Poll question: If you're considering getting a mortgage who would you rather have....
Here's a little rule of thumb: anytime someone is 'happy' to 'give' you money be suspicious.

3. Glad you had an honest person who is reality-based.
...stings a little at first, but you'll send him holiday cards forever.

2. I'd rather have
a dour looking SOB who scrutinizes every aspect of your finances and will in all likelihood say yes.

4. This poll is too limiting
Why does your choice have to be either a dour looking SOB or a happy person?

I would usually prefer to work with a happy individual rather than some sad sack.

Being happy is now equated with incompetent?

8. Yeah, I don't know why I even bothered asking
since I realize most people prefer working with someone similar to themselves: a dour SOB.

7. I prefer someone in between,
the first example reminds me of service rendered by Mr. Potter and the second example of *Mr.Haney.

I suppose someone like George Bailey as I'm thinking of of "It's A Wonderful Life" and there is no equivalent in "Green Acres".

* It must be noted for those that don't know, Mr.Haney didn't deal in mortgages.

11. Me too. Unless you already have a degree in accounting, spend a few bucks to hire an
independent accountant to review all of your closing documents and make sure you only sign the doc's that the accountant has reviewed.

Beware of 'last minute' changes!!!

9. I'd rather not buy a house right now, since we have barely come down from the peak of the bubble...
But yeah, I picked the first choice.
