What if the 2008 presidential election is nullified? |
|
I'm putting on a tin foil hat because of another thread.
Suppose McCain is not elected and the neocons picked him to carry on the PNAC agenda. With months to go in their terms Bush Cheney are talking about war with Iran as if they were still going to be in office in 2009. Why start the war and leave office?
Is it all over for PNAC and the neocons if the Dems win? Would the go quietly into the night? Ride off into the sunset?
I don't think Obama or Hillary have the intention of carrying on US imperialism. The neocons have been working on their plan since at least the middle 90's if not before. It has worked except for the insurgency in Iraq. That they never counted on.
So if the Dems win in November will BushCo do something to remain in power? I am afraid that will happen.

20. I'll say not if just because |
|
We've actually run elections in wartime before, and elections where the incumbent administration in theory had a chance to run, and at least two where the incumbent declined to run. I just don't see it happening, because this is an unbelievably armed country, the economy is on a one way trip to splitsville, and the memory of 8 years ago is fresh in everyone's minds.
If there's one country where you cannot get away with cancelling an election, it's this country. Such an act would trigger a rebellion especially now.

2. they don't have to be directly in power - they'll be making $$ on Iraq and oil for years |
|
Oil prices up? check
Wearing out all our defense equipment so it needs to be replaced? check
Blackwater and other contractors in heavy use? check
Big consulting firms working for dept. of homeland security? check
Cheney and Bush and friends will be just fine for years to come. Mission accomplished!!

3. I'll one up ya... I don't even think that there will be an election in November... |
|
My thoughts are that an attack on Iran will come before November and some form of Military rule will follow keeping these slugs in power for who knows how long.

10. No, you're the one that seems sure of |
|
- No election in November
- Attack on Iran before November (I'm assuming you mean 2008, since the 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007 predictions have all come and gone)
- Martial Law
I'm just curious what percentage do you think your predictions will come true? I personally don't believe any of them will happen.

12. Call it a gut feeling and thinking that this Administration stands to loose.... |
|
a great deal with a possible Obama Presidency; ie: Investigation into many areas that would most certainly be deemed illegal such as 911, the Iraq war and many, many other instances. So I just don't think they are going to be handing power over without a fight.

11. That is my nightmare. The Bush cabal will |
|
never willingly give up. They have so much on their side. They don't get impeached. They will never have to stand before an international court for war crimes. They make up rules as they go along. Some Democrats put impeachment "off the table." They have our "dear Joe Lieberman" playing footsie with John McCain. The positive attitude I have had all my life has completely disappeared. The cabal is sitting back and laughing at our candidates bashing each other and encouraging us do get even tougher on them. Every time we ridicule Obama or Clinton the Repubs laugh harder. We are stupid to do it. We have even called them traitors. Clinton is a monster. Obama has a mean and ugly pastor. Enough already!

that he didn't believe they were that insane (his words). He said that we didn't have the person power to stage a conventional war and that he didn't believe that even their 17% base would allow him to bomb Iran with nuclear bombs. for whatever that is worth. but he also believes that the problem with Michigan was Howard Dean's fault. (his crediblity definitely fell on that one). He says "wait until November and we will have the super majority we need and all will be well then". I didn't come away feeling settled.
fixing my typo...

there's nothing left to steal, and politically painful steps that NEED to be taken, so that there will be something to steal in the future.

16. I don't think you have to worry about. Our Sham Elections are the production value |
|
that keeps paying dividends.
And, sadly, I don't think you have to worry about an Empror other than McCain, as blissful as that would be (even if they didn't do anything to chnage the status quo, it would still represent a rest from Bushie Vamprirism and National Destruction).
This is not suggesting people should give up. They should not. Get out and vote in November, because our tiniest chance is that our honest votes could swamp the system.
But have no illusions about where you live and who rules.
