200,000 Demand Networks Stop Parroting FOX
Right now, MoveOn.org members and supporters of Brave New Films are delivering more than 200,000 petition signatures to NBC in New York and ABC in Washington, D.C. asking the networks not to parrot FOX's right-wing smears during the critical 2008 election.

The petition reads: "FOX is a Republican mouthpiece, not a legitimate news organization. Real news organizations must reject FOX's smears of Barack Obama, not parrot them and distract Americans from the pressing issues of the day." CBS and CNN will also receive the petitions Thursday.

The petition was launched aside a short video called "FOX Attacks Obama: Part 2 – The Virus Spreads" which shows how smears start on FOX and then go to other networks. One of the examples in the video is NBC's Tim Russert parroting Sean Hannity's attacks word-for-word. The video has been viewed half-a-million times since its launch on March 14, and can be viewed at www.FoxAttacks.com/virus.

"The video and petition describe a problem that happens over and over: FOX airs smears against Democrats, and other media repeat it as if FOX is anything more than a Republican mouthpiece," said Robert Greenwald.

14. I don't watch much news unless it's local or a speech
or someone I really want to hear. Sorry to disappoint you. Our family prefers the history channel, not stupid news commentators pretending to be journalists.

23. What is needed is a collection of evidence which can be used
to challenge the BROADCAST licenses of corporate-owned stations using the public airwaves. Any time their license comes up, a group should be ready to throw all of these examples of irresponsible reporting in a complaint contending that the network (or the network-owned station) has ceased serving the public and is beholden exclusively to certain special interests which do not believe in informing the public.

21. Nothing, I was being sincere rather than sarcastic...
if other networks stop treating what is aired on Fox as news we will really have "Fair & Balanced" news coverage.

5. That's a damn good video! WE all know that Fox is a wholly owned
subsidiary of B*shCoInc. This clearly shows how their lies and smears spread across the corpomedia spectrum!

It's MORE than worth a signature & a donation!

7. This won't accomplish anything.
Only solution is to stop watching it. Ratings go down. Revenues go down. Money talks, bs walks...

11. Boycott the biggest advertisers ...
... on the networks and LET THEM KNOW you are boycotting them and why. Ask in your politely worded letter for an explanation. IF you get a BS response then use it to humiliate that company with the local newspaper and TV/Radio people.

Put the pressure on the money.

16. The pressure needs to be put on the individuals who make the decisions. Any
attempt to have an economic impact is a real long shot.

Better to take a sure shot against the network execs or some similar decision-maker. Make them PERSONALLY experience the consequences of their actions. Then, you might actually affect a change.

17. What's needed is 200,000 warm bodies
surrounding their studios in every market each time they pull this crap. E-mails are not compelling. Torches and pitchforks ARE.

22. they parrot fox because they no longer are given
budgets to cover the real news. Hence all we get is pundits puking their guts out into our laps--and since there are only so many points to make (without any real reporting or investigation) they all sound alike.
