Al Gore will hold TransAtlantic Climate Conference on the Faroe Islands
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 03:20 PM by Ichingcarpenter

Al Gore, Nobel prize winner and former Vice-President of the USA, will be the main speaker at the TransAtlantic Climate Conference 08 in the Faroe Islands, on 7 and 8 April, an event focusing on climate change in the North Atlantic and on the new challenges faced by countries in the region. It is hoped that the conference will provide a boost to trans-Atlantic co-operation on climate change in the marine environment.

The conference venue will be The Nordic House ("an enchanting hill of elves" ) in Tórshavn. The Nordic House is built on a Nordic tradition with designs form all the Nordic countries.

The conference aims particularly at researchers, business people, civil society representatives and politicians in the North Atlantic region and the Nordic countries.

1. Hope they deliver this to MSNBC.
The network has become nothing more than a Faux clone.

3. Interesting idea -except that ALL THE NETWORKS basically act like Fox
on their own. The only difference is that they're (generally) more subtle about it.

5. Oooh! They make gorgeous shawls!
He should make sure to buy one for Tipper. Faroese shawls are well-known for their pragmatic construction and style.

7. I believe it. Their shawl construction is definitely older.
I hear that they also use some of the oldest sheep breeds, but I haven't read that anywhere for sure.

8. Maybe they can address the Faeroe's slaughter of marine mammals
Those people are addicted to whale blubber. It's horrible.

9. I've had discussions with my daughter's boy friend on that
They are not addicted to whale blubber, it is a stupid cultural ritual, that stems from
the fact they were so isolated, vegetables, for a long time were impossible to grow or be imported.

He even hopes they will end it soon, for the whales and the islanders sake.
