GOOD NEWS FOR A CHANGE (SIEGELMAN OUT ON BAIL PENDING APPEAL)...
Siegelman to be released from prison
Source: Birmingham News

Former Gov. Don Siegelman will be released from prison, after the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals granted him an appeal bond, the lead prosecutor in the case said.

Acting U.S. Attorney Louis Franklin said he received a courtesy call from the court today. "He's going to be released," Franklin said.

He said he was disappointed but said, "The 11th Circuit has the discretion to do that and I respect that."

12. "...and I respect that." ??!!
"The 11th Circuit has the discretion to do that and I respect that." --Bushbot U.S. Attorney Franklin

What the hell? He thinks he has an option not to "respect that"? He thinks it's just sort of a matter of opinion that the court has this power? And he "respects that"? He's waiting for word from on high that Bushbot prosecutors now have the power, by "unitary executive" fiat, to just round people up, and imprison people indefinitely, with no court involvement at all--as with "enemy combatants," as with NSA spying? And Democratic office holders are now "fair game"? And the Democratic grass roots is next? And all U.S. citizens had better behave, and sieg heil on command, or they, too, will find their rights a matter of opinion that U.S. attorneys can "respect" or "not respect," depending on how they feel that day?

Jeez. Well, I hope this Bushite one day finds himself on the respectful end of a long prison term for corrupt, lying, wrongful prosecution. Then he can decide whether to "disrespect" American justice and flee to Colombia--the only safe place left in the hemisphere for Bush criminals. He'll be real comfy there, where they chainsaw union leaders and throw their body parts into mass graves. And maybe those Bushite Colombian murderers will one day need a lawyer. Who knows? Miracles can happen.

13. More comments from the prosecutor...
Assistant U.S. Attorney Louis Franklin, who prosecuted Siegelman and former HealthSouth CEO Richard Scrushy, said he was "absolutely" surprised by the court's ruling, but added the government would continue to contest Siegelman's appeal.

"We lost this battle, but we'll still fight for the conviction," he said. "One has nothing to do with the other."
