AP: Anon Pentagon officials claim rockets used on Green Zone have 2007 Iranian manufacture dates

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/27/iraq/main3971693.shtml

<snip>

Pentagon officials said Thursday that weapons used in recent Green Zone attacks included 107mm rockets made in Iran. One official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the information, said some rockets were stamped with 2007 Iranian manufacture dates.

5. Ayatollah II.
You know, the kind with labels that are unaffected by detonation.

Allah is the glue that keeps 'em intact.

Jeebus...

17. Lot markings etc are quite common, even rifle ammuntion often has some
Even car bomb components can be traced if there is time and patience.

19. Nothing surriptious about them
With Hezbollah recently it was quite clear who claimed making them.

There is no downside for Iran for this. They look like heroes to some in the ME, and the rest does not matter

18. And all we give the Iraqi defense forces are those crappy Chinese duds from the 1960s
We paid over $300,000,000 (that's a third of a trillion dollars) to that juvenile delinquent and his masseur friend in Miami to send fizzled out munitions from Mao-era China to the Iraqi forces we're suposed to be training to stand up to the insurgents.

And the insurgents get the quality Iranian stuff. I guess we really do want to be there for 100 years.

I fully expect to see BushCo on tv tomorrow telling us this guy will be hunted down and court martialed/water boarded/drummed out of the military for leaking secret information.
