I just talked to Siegelman's attorney's office.
Vince Kilborn.
They're in nearby Mobile.
I talked to a secretary because I wanted to know if there would be any kind of welcome home party/rally. I told her I'd really like to be there.

She said nothing that she knew of at this time, but took my name and number.
I hope.
I really would like to shake his hand.

6. Cool. I love it when DU takes action.

I think it's great when we move from reading the news to being involved.

Good job, trof.

7. If we end up getting him cleared before '10
He could make a real impact on the elections. Now, I doubt Folsom will step aside in terms of the governorship, because the legislature is his, and it seems as if he has a sure shot to the mansion.

Where it becomes interesting is when you begin to talk about Congressional seats or the Attorney's Generals office. I fervently believe that if we had the election again today, Tyson would win. He only lost because no one in North Alabama had ever heard of him. Also, I think King will try and go for one more term as Attorney General. A Siegelman/King race would be real interesting, especially if Siegelman comes into it as the man who had been wrongly imprisoned.

Former Alabama governor leaves federal prison in Louisiana on bond
AP - March 28, 2008 - http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080328/NEWS01/80328011

OAKDALE, La. — Former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman left the federal prison at Oakdale on appeal bond today, saying he remains upbeat despite being incarcerated for nine months on his conviction in a corruption case.

‘‘I may have lost my freedom for awhile, but I never lost faith,’’ Siegelman told reporters.

Leaving the prison in a black sport utility vehicle, he stopped on the road outside the lockup to comment. He wore a ragged shirt that appeared to be prison clothing.

He declined further comment, saying, ‘‘I want to be with my family for a few days.’’ But he said he would make a statement when he reaches his home in Birmingham, Ala.
