Sacramento progressive talk station (1240 KSAC) flipping formats? |
|
Can't find any official announcement about this, but Mike Malloy mentioned last night that 1240 KSAC in Sacramento is changing the format from progressive talk to gospel music on Monday.
Apparently, they were having a hard time getting advertisers, and they were losing money.

4. Sometimes the point is to loose money. |

Tax write off. If they bring in too much, but not enough to be more than the write off, they change formats.

5. Whatever happened to the Bain Capital takeover of Clear Channel? |
|
Does this have anything to do with that? Many Clear Channel affiliates are Progressive Talk, running AAR programming along with Jones, NovaM, etc.

Sacramento lost its GOOD liberal station when KCTC switched to an ESPN Sports format last year. KSAC (aka TalkCity) picked up some of its listeners, but it's still a puny short range (1000 watt) station that was often fuzzy. Lots of people were also angry when the station cut Chris Craft last fall, which probably didn't help the ratings much either.

7. An update from the Sacramento Bee's blog |
|
http://www.sacbee.com/static/weblogs/ticket/archives/011455.htmlIt's a done deal. The station had ratings, but not enough ad revenue. Paula Nelson, the station owner, was apparently heartbroken on having to make the decision to flip the format.
