14. America's First Dynasty: The Adamses 1735-1918 kick!
Richard Brookhiser is the author of "America's First Dynasty: The Adamses, 1735-1918." At a lecture at Columbia University he gives a talk about the history of the Adams family dynasty beginning with founding father John Adams, and his son John Quincy Adams who followed his father into the oval office. The family lineage continues with Charles Francis Adams a politician and writer, and the scholar and journalist Henry Adams. In telling the story of the family, Mr. Brookhiser also describes the events and characters around them through American history from colonial days to World War I.

Richard Brookhiser is the author of "Alexander Hamilton, American," "Founding Father: Rediscovering George Washington," and "The Way of the WASP." He is a senior editor at the National Review and a columnist at New York Observer.
