Need help with this e-mail....... |
|
Got this from a "friend"......
Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. You aren't going to believe this.
Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement funds, 401Ks and Mutual Funds!) Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!
Boy, are we in trouble... This woman is frightening. She quotes..." We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest."
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied : "We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'."
I don't know how to respond.....any help would be greatly appareciated....

5. The longest era of economic expansion in modern US was |
|
in the post war era - where the wieght of taxes was moved off of productivity (work - as in income tax) and more weight on non productive income (investments) - as a way of promoting productivity in the economy - and allowing wage earners to save and consume (consumption that keeps the economy moving).
As our tax code has been shifted more on to those working to earn money (and toward productive economic growth) and less on "paper profits" that do little to stimulate and keep the economy moving/growing/expanding, income inequalities have increased, savings have decreased and our economy has become more dependent upon other economies (we are far less self-sufficient as an economic entity than we were 20 -30 years ago.)

8. When I get this sort of drivel from the B-i-L or other wingnuts that I love, I usually come up with |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 08:15 AM by 54anickel
witty, obviously overly simplified version of how to use snopes, then I make up some scary story about how the evil liberals use e-mail robots to track down Republicans that forward this sort of stuff. I love it when I get one that gives me a whole list of people to use the "reply to all" option.
The other thing I'll do is find a real article that shows the GOP at their finest - LBN here at DU is a great source - and I'll use that to reply in an attempt to open a real dialog. I've actually gotten quite a few to change their minds - although I'd have to thank Bushco for all of their help in that area. Of those few, some were willing to go Dem (until this campaign season anyway) - most were giving up on politics and not even "going to bother" to vote anymore.
Seriously though, why bother answering such crap beyond pointing out that it's crap?
edit cuz I can't type....

another quick source for finding such articles in Talkingpointsmemo.com and their TPMmuckraker.com Virtual treasure trove.

11. yeah, I generally vacillate between "delete" and "reply all" |
|
delete usually wins, because it is generally pointless - might as well try to sweep the beach.
If there is a really topical, current counterpunch available, I'll "reply all" and send it; then usually get chastised by the sender for using their list to distribute offensive material
At least it knocks me off another spam list...
