US 'deploys nuclear sub to Persian Gulf'
Sun, 23 Mar 2008 19:46:06

USS Montpelier crossing the Suez Canal, Feb. 2003
An American nuclear submarine has crossed the Suez Canal to join the US fleet stationed in the Persian Gulf, Egyptian sources say.

Egyptian officials reported that the nuclear submarine crossed the canal along with a destroyer on Friday and Egyptian forces were put on high alert when the navy convoy was passing through the canal.

An American destroyer recently left the Persian Gulf, heading toward the Mediterranean Sea; earlier Thursday, a US Navy rescue ship crossed the canal to enter the Red Sea.

1. You should remove this
"USS Montpelier crossing the Suez Canal, Feb. 2003"

That's the photo caption and it's confusing.

:hi:

4. But the picture doesn't appear in your OP
Which makes the caption look like a headline that appears to be 5 years old. That's all I was saying.

:)

7. I was sincerely trying to help
...and don't know how I could have made that more clear. And your response is to insult me?

Okay.

for a little thermonuclear war.

How do we respond when our own President
commits perhaps the greatest war crime ever?

5. I'm sure our brave leaders will step right up to the plate,
the plate of appetizers at whatever fundraiser they are attending when the attacks begin.

The USSN Montpelier, could also sending ordinary, non nuclear weapon to the end station... It is not a SSBN, (then I would be very worried) but an SSN Attack submarine.. Little more subtle than using one of your Ohio class submarine maybe:eyes: And I don't believe that SSN have operational nuclear weapon om-board longer. It was maybe one of the few thing the former President GHWB was smart to do in 1991, when the soviet broke up, to send the nuclear weapon of the subs, and place it under lock and key in safe storages...

By the way, this is a link to the USSN mention here, http://www.montpelier-vt.org/ussmontpelier/ssn765.cfm

And it happened to be nr 3 to be named that, here is a link, to all tree namesake of the current sub http://www.montpelier-vt.org/ussmontpelier/index.cfm
