Weird software glitches on the handheld trading systems.

Bad housing report as well, may send markets downward.

1. Sounds like a computer hack to me...
Somebody is bringing down the economy.

2. It's the internal messaging system between traders on the floor...
I don't know if it is attached to an external network, and if it is, that's a bunch of dumb crap.

3. Would the system have a braking mechanism at a certain trade volume?
I know so little about stock trading and just slightly more about tech toys.

4. Only trading curbs when the market goes down severely...
right now, we're way above the territory where we'd see the curbs go into effect.

What's going on now may be a technical limit in the volume that the messaging system can handle.

It's being reported as sporadic, but this is one of many error that happened yesterday.

6. stock market and economy
just because the market goes lower, it does not mean that the economy will go in the tank. the stock market is a very small part of the overall economy. it will reflect how the economy is doing, but not affect the economy.
