War Mongers on tour

Many of America’s most decorated war heroes from Iraq and Afghanistan have packed their bags and are hitting the road on a national bus tour to take their non-partisan message of progress and freedom from coast-to-coast.

The Vets for Freedom National Heroes Tour is about supporting our troops, honoring their commitment, and rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At this critical juncture in our country, we need Americans, lawmakers and the media, to fully recognize—and appreciate—the sacrifice of our brave military and the dramatic success they have achieved, especially in Iraq with the new counterinsurgency strategy.

Use the chart below to see when America’s heroes will roll through your town, and be sure to visit the site periodically for new tour information.

We hope to see you along the way—come out, meet some American heroes and support our troops!

Be sure to click on the link and check their tour schedule. I just found out about this and they were here on Thursday. The good news is they were largely ignored. The bad news is we were not there to 'welcome' them. (I want to ask them how an illegal war that has killed at least 4007 of our troops and maybe as many as a million Iraqis has brought freedom to America.)

1. Rolling through the west and south, with one stop in NYC.
Can anyone say "bankrolled by MaCPain for president?"

I respect the men and women in the military.

But I don't think that they should be out beating the drums for war.

No-one, military, politician, military industrialist corpo leader or civilian should be a cheerleader for war. It is sick and distorted on the face of it.

3. Their videos show police escorting them into various towns
and those Patriot Riders. I will remember that the next time that group is praised here on DU.

I also want to know why the police never come when we call them to report war mongers assaulting and threatening us as we protest against the war. Yet they escort these guys into my city?!?!

"(VFF-AF)—registered<7> with the IRS as a 527 committee national lobby. It was, in essence, a Republican front group managed by Republican-affiliated public relations<8>, media<9>, legal<10>, and political consultants, including former White House spokesman Taylor Gross, to defeat candidates who advocate an end to the US occupation of Iraq."

"Taylor Gross is a founding partner of the public relations company The Herald Group. He is a former White House spokesman who coordinated Republican media coverage during the 2000 presidential election ballot recount in Florida. Gross also served as U. S. Attorney General John Ashcroft's media point man during Ashcroft's nomination hearings."

6. That is a beautiful bus.
I wonder how much Bush, the republican party, homeland security, pentagon, or KBR money it took to buy it? I'm thinking this isn't something the VFW did.

7. I'll bet that none of the horrifically maimed vets are front and center in that group.
God forbid the public sees the reality of the results of war.

9. "non-partisan"
Edited on Sat Mar-29-08 10:30 PM by walldude
   yeah I can only imagine who's footing the bill for this one..

edit: LOL here's a quote from the donation page:

"Vets for Freedom needs your help to communicate America's strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan. Without your support, the war debate will be dominated by defeatists like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, along with powerful anti-war groups. We cannot allow this to happen. Too much is at stake.

Please donate today to make your voice heard. Your money will help us fight radical fringe groups who want to steer our country towards defeat in the name of gutter-ball partisan politics.

Support the troops by supporting their mission....Make your voice heard today!"

Gotta love those "non-partisans"

edit edit: Oh yeah and K&R
