12. My laptop is staying on
along with one CFL bulb in my bedroom.

Of course, I have CF bulbs in every light socket in the house now, and am looking forward to switching to LEDs when I can get them in the various configurations that are required (and as the CFs quit working).

My laptop will be on battery for the hour, however my router is plugged in to the wall.

I use the power switch on the power STRIP that my TV and entertainment system are plugged into, so no "vampire" electronic devices (that's also a standard thing to do for me).

I have an electric small tank water heater, but it usually only cycles on when someone uses the hot water.

The fridge I won't do anything about.

20. No fucking way. I need light to read by, and if I light the Alladin lamp, it will put more
bad stuff into the air (by burning kerosene) than using the house lights (and they're all CFLs, in case you were wondering.)

Fuck if I'll sit in the dark for an hour.

21. Gonna shut everything off and then take the dog for a long walk
it'll be interesting to see how many in the neighborhood/area are participating in Earth hour.

I've actually noticed in the last year or so that my modest neighborhood seems to be a lot darker than it used to be - I think people are turning off more lights to help cut down their electricity bill.

Now for the McMansions that start down the street 1/4 of a mile or so from my neighborhood, that's another story. Most of them are just lit up unbelievably with "decorative lighting" (or whatever you call it). They hire lighting specialists to place outdoor lighting that enhance and show-off the 'architecture' of the house at night. :eyes: Some of those big homes are really nice, but to be honest, the majority of them are just gosh-awful ugly/gaudy. One in particular looks like a crypt or something out of a really bad horror movie.

Oops....I typed too long - lights out!

24. Second half of the hour seemed really long with everything off ---
I like flashlights better than candles ---
and we also have a big spotlight kind of thing that my husband has for boating ---
it is SOLAR -- but you can also plug it in.

Are we doing this again . . . ever????
