Richardson visits Colombia, US hostages
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080330/ap_on_re_us/richardson_colombia

Gov. Bill Richardson said three American hostages being held by rebel forces in Colombia appear to be in deteriorating health.

Richardson, who has been a freelance diplomatic troubleshooter on several occasions, returned Friday from Bogota where he met with Colombian President Alvaro Uribe and others to evaluate the chances that the men would be released.

"When you get involved in these negotiations, it's critically important to get to know the principals and gain their trust," Richardson said. "While I believe this initial trip was successful, the process of freeing the hostages won't happen quickly."

(snip)
The families of the hostages had requested Richardson's help, and the governor coordinated the trip with the U.S. Department of State and the Colombian government. His trip was paid for in part by the Santa Fe Council on International Relations, said Allan Oliver, a spokesman for Richardson.

1. The hostages are U.S. narco-assholes..
They were there searching for cocaine crops for the U.S. to spray with poison.

Karma is a bitch.

2. I wonder, did he chide Uribe for killing the chief FARC hostage negotiator the other
week, in a targeted slaughter using U.S surveillance and ordinance, and likely U.S. aircraft and personnel, in the bombing/incursion into Ecuador. The President of Ecuador Rafael Correa said that he was in contact with the FARC negotiator, Raul Reyes, and that talks were "very advanced" for the release of 12 more hostages, including Colombian/French citizen Ingrid Betancourt, negotiations that included the presidents of France, Argentina and Venezuela--after Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez got six hostages released over the last few months.

Boom! Bang, bang, shoot, shoot. End of that hostage negotiation.

Alvaro Uribe--the go-to guy for the Medellin Cartel in his early career, now the go-to guy for the Bush Cartel, and on whose government the Bushites have larded $5.5 billion of our tax dollars in military aid, a government infamous for the slaughter of union leaders, children and other innocents--asked Chavez to start those negotiations, then suddenly withdrew that request, when the negotiation started to show success, and bombed the location of the first two hostages that Chavez got released, trying to insure a disaster. He is a treacherous fascist worm. After killing Raul Reyes and 24 other people in their sleep, at a jungle camp just inside Ecuador, he and the Bush-CIA cooked up "evidence," supposedly contained in Reyes' "smart-bomb"-surviving laptop, that Uribe has been touting around the corporate press, trying to paint Chavez and Correa as "terrorist-lovers." Richardson had better watch his back. He may find himself accused of visiting prostitutes in Colombia, drug dealing, aiding "terrorism," interfering in Colombia's affairs, accepting dirty money, and may even find himself in prison like Gov. Seigelman of Alabama, or God knows what-all. Big Daddy NSA is watching! And he's got some nice candy to lure sucker Democrats to their doom.
