Poll question: Sexist And Racist?
Earlier today I posted something referring to the hypothecated selection of Gore as the Democratic nominee:

Both Women and Black Folks will walk away certain that their time in the saddle was stolen by old White Guys.

This comment was branded by one poster as "sexist and racist".

Your opinion is sought.

1. Not sexist or racist, but I sure tire of hearing about Gore as a possible nominee.
I think I'd give up on politics completely if that happened.

2. your comment does seem to assume
that black people and women are voting for clinton and obama because of gender and race. in spite of all the talk, i think most democratic voters want a democrat win in november. if gore is the nominee, this black woman would vote for him.

4. I See Your Point, But It's Not Exactly What I Meant
I'm Jewish, but I wouldn't vote for a person because they are Jewish. However, even if a Jew that I voted against was the frontrunner, and a bunch of Old White Guys substituted one of themselves instead, I'd be pretty concerned.

3. Sexist and racist because it presumes that all black people and all women will agree
I give every person credit for having the capacity to make up his or her mind how to feel about things.

5. A better way and, strangely enough, was expressed in letters to Cafferty
It would offend the millions of voters who went out to caucuses and primaries to vote for their candidates. Those lucky enough in the earlier states even voted for other white guys, like Edwards, Biden, Kucinich and Dodd. OK, Gravel, too.

Having said that, I do think that our dream team would be Gore/Edwards but the way to get there may be tricky and obviously will require the full heartfelt and honest support by both Clinton and Obama.

6. Not sexist or racist. Clinton has an undeniable constituency

7. How can you talk about sex or race without being labeled "ist"?
Yes, Clinton is a woman. If nominated, a woman would be nominated. Yes, Obama is black. If nominated, a black would be nominated. Yes, Gore is a white male. If nominated, a white male would be nominated.

Yes, what you write is about race and gender, but I have no problem with it. What I have a problem with is having only 1 woman, only 1 dark skinned man to chose from. Along with a whole bunch of white penis types (but they are mainly repubs).

Have you ever read The Giver, by Louis Lowry? Beware, there are spoilers at the weblink, but it is a very god book about being the same and being different in one society's utopia.

8. Yes because
not every woman or Black person are behind Clinton and Obama, respectively.

And the word you were looking for in your OP is "hypothetical."

9. But it's possible to generalize or else, you wouldn't be able to talk
about any group.
