Muslims more numerous than Catholics
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080330/ap_on_re_eu/vatican_muslims

VATICAN CITY - Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said Sunday.

"For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican's yearbook.

He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population — a stable percentage — while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.

"It is true that while Muslim families, as is well known, continue to make a lot of children, Christian ones on the contrary tend to have fewer and fewer," the monsignor said.

3. Notice how one group 'makes' children, while the other group 'has' them.
Kinda like the difference between 'looting' and 'foraging', donchaknow.

10. False comparison
Catholicism is one branch of Christianity. Like Christianity, Islam also comes in many varieties.

The proper comparisons would be Christians to Muslims, or Catholics to Sunnis, or Orthodox Christians to Shiites, and so on.

If you compare counts of Christians to Muslims, Christians still hold at least a billion-person advantage.

from the website http://www.religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm

So if Catholics consider themselves non-Christian, as Martin Luther seemed to imply with his interpretation of the Bible, see:

The Catholic Origins of Futurism and Preterism
http://www.endtimeissues.com/articles/193/Catholic-Origins-of-Futurism-and-Preterism/

...they would be validating Luther's thesis, IMHO.
