25. Remember in the run up to the war Rummy refereed to the troops...
as fungible. It was then that I knew that our brave troops were in danger. So sad. We stand on the corner two times a week and speak out for the troops. You would be surprised at the people who have hateful things to say to us. peace, Kim

6. Why would there be a lot of fallout?
if you dropped a bomb on a power plant in the U.S. the roof would cave in and the reactor would be buried.

12. so the radiation would have no fall out cause the reactor
would be buried. So our troops don't have anything to worry about???

So why would the Saudis be preparing for radiation fall out???

According to Chris Floyd at the Empire Burlesque web site:
http://www.chris-floyd.com/content/view/1463/135 /

The Saudi government is now preparing plans to deal with "any sudden nuclear and radioactive hazards" that may arise from an attack on Iran's nuclear reactors. This was reported by a top Saudi newspaper, Okaz, and relayed by a leading German news service, DPA -- one day after Dick Cheney paid a visit to the kingdom. As we noted, no one knows exactly what was said at that confab of allied authoritarians -- but something sure lit a fire under the Saudis, and convinced them that urgent action is needed to brace for the lethal overspill from a strike on Iran.

Floyd points out that nothing in Saudi Arabia becomes the top news story without government approval. That such a story should be released the day after Cheney's visit, sends a message to everyone about what’s on Cheney's mind.

18. That fallout would be from U.S. weapons not anything the Iranians had
Any nuclear holocaust in the region would be from nuclear bunker busters Cheney wants to use. Chernobyl's fallout only happened because the reactor itself started on fire and melted down spreading radioactive byproducts in the smoke.

26. Sort of like when the roof caved in on Chernobyl?
I know, I know, dropping a nuke is different than a meltdown, but are you saying that simply bombing a nuke would automatically bury it and hence, no radiativity would get out into the air?

Thinking back to Three Mile Island and other "OMG! MELTDOWN!" stuff. Bomb it, leak out the water, heat goes up, explodes? Yes, I am ignorant, running on partially remembered bits of info and seeking clarification. Thanks

11. Wind
will be a major factor. They'll bomb when the wind is blowing at someone else they don't like.

One thing to keep in mind is that Iran buried a lot of its stuff underground, and that stuff won't be blowing anywhere.

Fallout is not a concern on a carrier, provided you get below decks and close the doors.

21. You can't blow up the reactor without breaching the containment all around it.
Once you have breached the containment. Radiation leaks are possible. The reactor at Chernoble burned it's way into the ground. It still contaminated the surrounding area. This becoming a huge dirty bomb is a possible outcome. But I would need more information on the facilities and bombs used to honestly say if it's a likely outcome.

They sure seem determined to keep troops there until their luck runs out.

GOP does not seem to want to spend money on veteran care. Can't skim as much $$ off for your pals when you have to actually spend money on people.
