will receive the CMH... posthumously. this Lance Corporal is damn lucky to tell the tell, and things like the Victory Cross or the CMH are usually given to people who died.
And if it works the same way over there, he will be also promoted to buck sergeant
And yes, that is heroism...
Though many in the military also call them idiocy awards, since usually these are given to young dead heroes, by old grizzled vets who have learned to duck.
(Not to diminish what he did.. but I am sure military folk will get the joke, current and vets)
