US Army recruits Tijuana residents for the military
I don't know if this is general knowledge but on a trip to Tijuana Wednesday I found this article in the EL MEXICANO.

Denucian el reclutamiento de tijuanenses por el Ejercito de EU.

The gist of the article was that activists in Mexico are trying to block army recruiters from coming into Mexico in an attempt to entice them to join the American army.

I know the policy here at DU is to only give a snippet. So I'll give the first couple of paragraphs. Unfortunately it is in Spanish but Google translator will give you a fair translation.

I'll try to find a link to the article so that everyone could read it in depth.

TIJUANA. Young tijuanenses being secretly recruited in local bars to join the U.S. Army, claimed Fernando Suarez del Solar, founder and owner of Project Guerrero Azteca for Peace.

He assured that recruiters operating in dens in civilian clothes approached the youth of this city, and invite them beer and the call to join the ranks of Americans in exchange for citizenship, he said.

8. Foreigners serving in the US Army ...
... and thereby becoming citizens.

Not a new wrinkle by any means. It's been done all along.

9. Here is the trick
American recruiters invite beers to kids, who are invited to join the US Army in exchange for citizenship after their tour. By the by, that is a nice lie, that promise they cannot fulfill, but the bills that they have tried to bring before the Congress to essentially do this make sense all of a sudden... and empires do show their age when they start recruiting barbarian troops, to use the Roman tern.

The activist is asking the foreign office and local authorities to essentially stop this practice

Oh and it would be impossible to check on this, but apparently half of the Mexican Americans KIA did not have clear migratory status, aka they were illegal.

So, if this is the case and I have no reason to doubt it.. isn't DOD housing Illegals now?
