Log Cabin Repukes are mad at Howard Dean's remarks
http://www.gay.com/news/article.html?2008/03/27/1

<snip>
Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean came under attack for speaking out against conservative gay men and lesbians as well as Republicans of color.

"They can't become more diverse," Dean said Tuesday at a speech at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. "Who in their right mind, if they were African-American or Hispanic or Asian-American, if they were gay or lesbian, would join the Republican Party?"
<snip>

Isn't it rather funny what these LCR people choose to be upset about? Howard Dean is right - these people belong to a party that is actively working against them, trying to make their lifestyle illegal, denying them basic civil rights, etc. Do they not know that repukes openly mock them?

It's hard enough to see why anyone in general would support the Repukes, let alone minority groups who the GOP despises.

1. Dr. Dean, once again, is honest and on point....
Black Republicans, Gay Republicans, Latino Republicans? I just don't get it. :shrug:

8. Why would a woman be a Republican?
Why would anyone without a lot of money?

If people voted their own best interests the GOP would never get more than 20% in any election.

schwarzeneger -- there are real boundaries for bringing more diversity to their party.

bringing in more moderates -- moderates who may support roe v wade or marriage equality drives out evangelicals.

that more than anything is the equation at play for republicans in 08 -- they are in the middle of a transformation -- with no one effective driving the changes.

3. Wealth is more important to them then their minority status.
If you have enough money it doesn't matter as much that you are part of a minority.

5. Right, being a member of THAT minority - the Moneyed Few -
trumps all others, because THAT minority is privileged far, far above the majority and all of the oppressed minorities combined. Being a member of the Moneyed minority bestows super-equality - a position that the rest of us can only imagine...

4. They are Republicans because they are economically right wing, perhaps socially liberal, I guess.
The Republican Party caters to socially conservative views as well as right wing economic policy. People who are socially liberal and economically right wing don't fit as well in the party as someone who is conservative socially and right wing economically.

6. "Lifestyle" is a really offensive term
I don't have a "lifestyle;" I have a life. You know, house in the suburbs, trophy wife, cat, dog, etc.

I agree with Dean's statement, though.

7. Republican Blacks and LGBTs knew the dangers when they signed up
The Log Cabiners prefer to try and take advantage of economic policies that only benefit the rich instead of wanting equal rights. And republican Blacks have to be careful when they're hanging around the lobby of a hotel during Republican functions because White republicans will ask them to carry their bags, hail a taxi, etc.

9. Any time Rethugs (of any stripe) are pissed, the Dem hit an authentic nerve--GOOD!1
That's one of those eternal questions we've been asking here forever: Why would *any* minority--Hispanic, Black, Gay, whatever--EVER be a Rethug?
