wait a 218 page proposal to change the "strong" economy! |
|
The Bush administration Monday proposed the most far-ranging overhaul of the financial regulatory system since the stock market crash of 1929 and the ensuing Great Depression. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson unveiled the 218-page plan in a speech in Treasury's ornate Cash Room. He declared that a strong financial system was important not just for Wall Street but also for working Americans.
Shouldn’t the Democrats simply sit on this proposal? Bush is an extremely unpopular lame duck president. It was only 3 months ago he was explaining the economy was strong. Suddenly out of the blue a 218 page proposal appears! Isn't this the patriot act all over again? Where the Bush administration uses manufactured fear to push through a pile of agendas that clearly the administration had worked up for a long time. Can congress for once please simply sit on this stuff. Of course if they do sit on it, then McCain spends til November claiming the Democrats are to blame for the economy and President Bush had a great plan to fix it... it's always about getting and maintaining power for these people. It's never about actually America or the American people. They make me sick.
