McCain ‘Surprised’ by Iraq Developments
McCain ‘Surprised’ by Iraq Developments

By Michael Cooper
John Mccain - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog

MERIDIAN, Miss. – As he launched a tour here designed to highlight his family’s long tradition of military service, Senator John McCain said Monday that he was surprised by the latest turn of events in America’s current war in Iraq.

Mr. McCain said he had not expected Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki to try to oust Shiite militias from Basra without consulting the Americans, and that he was troubled by some of the demands that were made by the Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr as part of his offer of a ceasefire after the militias held off the American-supported assault. And he tied some of the current problems to the Bush administration’s old strategy there.

“Maliki decided to take on this operation without consulting the Americans,’’ Mr. McCain said on his campaign bus as it rolled through downtown Meridian, saying that the move showed independence but that he had expected the military to focus on Mosul.

“I just am surprised that he would take it on himself to go down and take charge of a military offensive,’’ he said. “I had not anticipated that he would do that.’’

1. Translation: "I am one ignorant SOB"
This man is daily proving why he is unfit for the office to which he aspires. He doesn't know anything about economics and has taken on the dreadful Phil Gramm as his economics advisor. He thinks he knows everything about a war we're mired in but confesses to being completely surprised about the direction it's taken.

The only reason he's their nominee is because it's his turn.

I really don't give a shit who takes our nomination. I just know I will be voting for the Democrat.

2. And no one could imagine the levees would break.
Or that terrorists would use passenger planes as missiles.

Republicans should change their mascot to an ostrich.

3. Okay, lets start with the obvious. The Sovereign Government of Iraq should have checked with US -
first. Great! Just what we need. Another idiot that doesn't understand sovereignty. Looks like Mc Cain doesn't understand the agreement with Iraq. He's got it backwards. They don't get our permission to launch an offensive. We have to get their permisssion to launch an offensive. Well here's another one. Mc Clueless.

6. Captain Asshat McLame speaks again...
Anyone who willingly supports this dullard should stop mixing Zanax and Jack Daniels. Oh, and to the complete morons in the democratic party who are pledging their vote to McCain if "their candidate" doesn't get the nomination, you people are too fucking stupid to live amongst civilized society. Go find a fucking cage somewhere and lock yourselves in it. We'll treat you like the zoo animals you are. No, sorry, zoo animals have more of a brain than you do. Fucking stupid traitors. I'm sorry, but the statistics I've seen over the weekend just fucking infuriate me. There are people who would willingly flush this country, or what's left of it, down the shitter out of spite. Do us all a favor and leave. There's no place for such childish stupidity in this country anymore. Our future is too important.

Whoever it is, VOTE DEM!

8. agree with what you say, but
I think those polls are crap. It is people lying about what they would do if their candidate doesn't get the nod, to try to make the other look unelectable.

11. I hope you're right. I don't really know what to believe anymore.
I know that the media loves the Dem party divided as it is. A fractured party is fodder for them, and I know they will make up any poll or statistic to keep this going. I think it hit a nerve with me because I actually heard my cousin say that they were going to "Hold their nose and vote for McCain..." Life-long Repukes, would never change their course for the good of their country or their children for that matter. I told my cousin that voting for McCain would probably get his oldest son drafted. He didn't say much after that.
