Karl Rove: "Every moment and every event should be scripted"

http://www.newsweek.com/id/129586/page/3

OPINION
Karl Rove

<snip>

Rule #5: Focus on Staging. Conventions are elaborate made-for-TV productions. We live in a culture of the visual. Every moment and every event should be scripted. The media will complain about it, but think through what messages you want and when you want them. This script must be visually powerful and interesting enough to keep the cameras on your candidate and not somewhere else. Make the spectacle personal. The Al and Tipper Gore kiss, for instance, did him a lot of good. And be sure to provide fresh content all the time. In the era of cable TV, talk radio, the blogosphere and YouTube, someone is watching and talking all the time. If you're not pressing content into all available channels, someone else will.

4. naaa, I worked for producers like rover...
they would walk around spouting old worn out hollywood euphemisms thinking they knew what they were talking about and act like complete dicks, but in reality, everyone laughed behind their backs.

their cred was only on paper, in reality, no one would every help them or come to their aid. Their power never extended beyond the stage door.

6. No doubt, if you plan on sending your nation off to a war based on lies, that will
require an extensive script. The sad and truly pathetic thing is, no one in this inbred politics rules policy dominated maladministration wrote a script as to what would happen after they took Baghdad. I believe this is why the scriptwriter's king currently enjoys his nosebleed 19% approval rating with the American People.

Regarding Al and Tipper's kiss, I believe another scriptwriter put it best when he said "A kiss is but a kiss".

7. Quite good advice
One of the main reason the GOP is where it is today. All hat and no cattle is another way to word it I guess. Make a show out of it because people are stupid, American people anyway...And if there is any doubt to that statement just look at who is sitting in the Whitehouse..

8. This "Top-Down," Corporate Disconnect Never Works
This horrific theft of all democratic processes, and the now-huge reaction against it, is the logical end-result of basic big-business Republican thinking-- "trickle-down," deregulated, tax-cut, everything-for-corporations, no public interest or general welfare, top-down "planning" approach. This was their great dream, this was what theythought was going to be their crowning glory reward, for having bought, taken over, and consolidated, the entire commercial media, and repeated attempts to kill PBS. They actually believed it would then be a totally closed system of propaganda, censorship, slant, fake cheering for one side and fake jeering laughter at the other, and that it would just trick people, eternally. They think, because they live in the insulated world of corporate advertising, that just because they produced a message of this or that thing, that that means that people automatically just think it, unquestioning. You have to be totally cut off from the outside world of angry, cut-off people who remember the way this country used to be, to even believe that. Significantly, the very first sign of an uprising against Bush/Republican/corporate policies, came not from the self-praising "computer/media savvy" generation, but from old people, outraged at the attempts to kill Social Security a few years ago, when "Democrats," oblivious, were still "deciding" if it was a "good" idea or not! The least media savvy, were the most disenthralled from this crap and its delusions.

This attitude of propagandizing to the "little people" just totally discounts the possibility of a reaction on their part, that they exist and will think thoughts you didn't give them, and that go against your abuse. This is what happened, as it always does, sooner or later. The same people who have been complaining for years and years that they are sick and tired of phony fluff "news" stories on TV, radio and the newspaper, who want real news and news reporters, and who have been ignored as all these things decline, are the same general public that will never be tricked and duped by such dumbass crude stunts as "visuals" and their plan to drown out any anti-Bush protests with "U! S! A!" chants, exposed a while ago. These stupid rich Republicans got themselves totally locked away in a "planning room" of their own, and could no longer hear the (censored--by them) angry shouts of the American people, and they thought that just because they were fooling, and making crawl, the wuss "Democrats" of the then-"D"LC Congress, etc., that that actually went for the rest of us, too. Their isolation, insulation, made them stupid, and unaware of what would come next. When people get manipulated and their own will is thwarted and censored, eventually the only thing that happens is that they will not take it anymore. Their propaganda did not even match up with what the people were saying: we told them, price-gouging, corporate corruption, health care, and unemployment, they gave us tax cuts and "cut and run." Idiots--they never even had any contact with us.

Of course, Bush does have a very popular video on You Tube right now (booing at Washington Nationals' home opener baseball game). They can decide for themselves how well their whole plan is going...

9. "Reframing Perception Space (P-Space): A Quick Overview of a Unifying Concept"
by Col. Michael McKim USAFR (ret) archived at USAF's Air University Air War College--that is more what Rove et al. practice---what Col McKim outlined: mind control, psychological operations, and propaganda.

Do a search on this for yourselves or disregard the truth.
