The funniest thing this morning when we looked at the playlist, we saw "paid programming" from midnight recorded last night.

:tinfoilhat:
Are the infomercial people going to be able to hijack the machines we have in our homes to watch their stupid ads about Lifecycles, TaeBo, and whatnot?

1. If you have a show set to record every time it is on
and it is listed as being on and isn't, that can cause such a thing to happen (has to me before) - ie, an infomercial was on instead but the listing service did not update the list.

Just a hunch :)

2. No, but
one of the dogs likes rubbing his head on the remote and when he does he occassionally changes channels. The other day he not only changed channels but started the DVR recording. The DVR was recording when I walked into the room and found him sleeping on the remote.

7. LOL
I still remember the night we took off for a party. We set the VCR to record CSPAN's coverage of something we promised to record for a friend (I think it was Harkin's Fish Fry). The next day we invited our friend over to pick up the tape. When she arrived we decided that we would watch the tape together. We put the tape in and started watching. About ten minutes into the tape the channels started changing and finally stopped on Animal Planet. It stayed on Animal Planet for about half an hour and then went to MTV for a while and then ended up on the National Geographic channel until the tape ran out.

We laughed hysterically. Our dogs had turned on the television and were watching animal shows while we were gone. My friend Lauren (for whom we were recording the tape) called it our "Dogs after Dark" tape.

4. when I had Dish Network
it would automatically record one of their infomericals on how to use the DVR, remote, etc from time to time.

8. Yup mine's done that too.
But it's always a Dish network related commercial and it doesn't happen very often.

5. Only When It Doesn't Change the Channel Properly
I have to use the IR cables to have my satellite channel change. Sometimes, it misses and I get an infomercial instead of Dr. Who at 4am.

6. Yes, your DVR has been monitoring your eating habits
and thinks you need to work on your abs. Thus, the "anonymous" infomercials...
