Yep sad sorted tale of conservative hubris following the big campaign "win" and the public display of the mainstream media's voluntary obedience to even the most ridiculous of rightwing fake issues finally came to and end...well actually the end came when the autopsy showed (with no doubt) how contrived and manipulated the entire episode was.

REMEMBER-Bush came off of his vacation and flew FROM Crawford back to DC to sign the half-assed legislation that didn't (but could have) saved her life.

Is a vent dependent quadriplegic not a "person"? A child who has to be tube fed due to a metabolic disorder?

I think you are confused as her problem was not that she was on a feeding tube, but her brain had issues. And there are many people who are on feeding tubes and assisted breathing who are still people, not just bodies. Like Christopher Reeves.

OMG, I remember seeing that picture posted during the whole Schiavo episode and thinking how unbelievable it was. And the children with paper cups filled with water that they wanted to take to Terri (despite the fact that she couldn't swallow and that was the reason for her tube).

I got my own will made up shortly afterwards. I didn't want my family to have to go through such a horrible ordeal if I were in that predicament.

It was mind-boggling, wasn't it? I also drew up living will-type documents and had my family witness and sign them. I never want to go through what Terri was put through.

playing with a balloon and how he was following her, not the other way around. I think a lot of other nurses who have worked with head injury cases and have seen the false hope and self delusion of family members saw the same thing I did.

I doubt any of us will let Dr. Frist anywhere near us, no matter what his reputation in his own field is. No professional medical person should have been fooled by that tape.

I'm glad she's finally at peace, that her husband has married and moved on. I do hope her parents finally accept the truth, that their daughter had been dead for a decade before her body was allowed to die and that they are able to give up the spotlight and move on with their lives.

As for every GOP politician and religious nut who used her body to grandstand upon, may they rot in the hell they want for the rest of us.

AS noted above Katrina was almost exactly 6 months later (that is when it really was OVER for W) and ironically last night W threw out the first pitch at the Nationals game, when he threw out the pitch at the world series he was at his ultimate peak of popularity (for the greatest national security failure ever) after that it was all downhill-for everyone.
