Lieberman calls Democratic Party 'hyperpartisan' taken over by far left minority
Would that it were true!

Actually, he and his DLC ilk have always been the minority in terms of votes if not collecting corporate checks.

Speaking on ABC's "This Week," Lieberman, Independent of Connecticut, said it is not the same party that made him its vice presidential candidate in 2000.

"It's not the Bill Clinton-Al Gore party, which was strong internationalists, strong on defense, pro-trade, pro-reform in our domestic government," he said. "It's been effectively taken over by a small group on the left of the party that is protectionist, isolationist, and very, very hyperpartisan. So it pains me."

6. What's so bad about being taken over by the left? It is a party that is left of center.
At least it use to be, I think it is just going back to where it was. Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy would be far leftists today.

Good Bye Joe, I really hope you stay away after the next election.

7. It should be a top priority for the party
to defeat the Senator from Tel Aviv as soon as his term is up.

He needed to go two years ago.

He needs to go now.

We won't get a chance until 2012.

11. Who wouldn't want to run left after the RW has devastated our
country? If center is with Lieberman I'm so glad he thinks the Democratic party is Left. The positions he has supported lately have been harmful to our respect in the world and only profits the war mongers.

12. What a minnit!
I've always been proud of being a liberal Democrat and it's only since the rise of the Right Wing Extremist pundits that "liberal" is now a dirty word in the American venacular.

I think we should recaim the word and wear it proudly and loudly. I'm sick of these creeps!

19. Took the words right out of my mouth -- "Would that it were true!"
The bulk of the Dems have moved much closer to the Repubs in spirit and deed than to where I am, sitting out here in the good company of the Dalai Lama and Gandhi. LIEberman is just trying to talk the party even further to the right, which I expect they'll do even without his input.

21. Lieberturd = teh suxxorz. Or however you spell that . . .
This dork once allied with Sam Brownback and William Bennett to try and act as moral architects and protect us from dirty music like Marilyn Manson and other assorted gangsta rap back in the late 90s, . Also in 1999, Lieberman and McCLOWN of all people introduced the 21st Century Media Responsibility Act, which would impose a one-size-fits-all rating system and levy fines of up to $10000 a day; also, any artist who wouldn't be down with this rating system would have their works be considered contraband.

I remember him being on the 700 Club of all places. Lieberturd said something along the lines of "I'm pleased to be talking to you, because I think you really have been at the heart of it, in which people return to their religions as a way to build a wall of principle around themselves, to protect themselves and their families from the . . "Anything Goes" mentality. I don't think America suffers from too MUCH religion, but of too LITTLE."

So tell me why this Republican in Dem's heading is still worth listening to?

22. Can he point to any actions the Democratic Congress has taken in the last 6 months
to justify this characterization?

If the Democratic Party has been taken over by extreme leftists, then the President must be reading Mao's little red book, because I don't recall him vetoing much of anything recently.

23. wait Lieberman thinks
W is strong internationalist with his America's way or the highway approach to other nations, not talking to the enemy, sending weak internationalist to represent us in the UN and fighting wars not sanctioned by international bodies nor fought with the support of our allies?

W is strong on defense by engaging an enemy that was no threat to attack America, had no weapons to attack America, while ignoring actual enemy strong holds. At the same time allowing the actual infrastructure of America erode and once again ignoring our traditional allies.

W is pro-trade by simply allowing corporation do what ever they want regardless of what it does to American employment.

W is pro-reform by... I give up he only reforms things that were working domestic programs into non working programs. FEMA was reformed by Bush into an agency that doesn't work for example.

It's the democrats that are doing this? Wait when the democrats were the minority in the senate they basically had to beg to keep fillerbusters by agreeing not to use them. Meanwhile the minor Republicans in the current congress have set the record on fillerbusters and blocking measures already. That's right the minority Repubicans in congress are the most obstructionist in history but it's the democrats that are partisan! It's the Republicans that want to build a fence around America but it's the democrats that are protectionists! It's the Republicans that want to go it alone in international wars and remove the US from the UN, but it's the democrats that are isolationists. Lieberman is insane!

and now the Middle East is aflame, China doesn't care what the world thinks about it, 110,000 more Americans die than they would have under all-privatized French healthcare, and the economy is hemorrhaging jobs and money!

28. Actually, we never moved, you all did.
What's now considered the far left, is actually just the center. The conservatives have convinced everyone on their talking points to such a degree, that the center shifted hard right. Soon, a stop sign will be a marker of creeping socialism.

When his term is up, Connecticut, you know what to do. Or maybe a recall if you can swing it.

29. We're at the point where the extreme right is so far right it thinks the far right is left.
If we were living in a 'far left' country there'd be no corporate personhood--in fact, there'd be no corporations at all.
