http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/31/pelosi-suggests-bush-skip_n_94363.html

Let's not impeach and remove the warmonger criminals in our own country. Let's boycott the opening of the Olympics to show them Chinese who's boss......

Oh BTW Nancy, how much is the US in debt to China?

2. Geez, could she be more wishy-washy?
"I think boycotting the opening ceremony, which really gives respect to the Chinese government, is something that should be kept on the table," Pelosi, D-Calif., said in an interview taped for airing Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America."

So...her advice to Bush** is he should consider boycotting the opening ceremony? Could you be a little less firm about your hesitance, Madam Speaker? People might think you were actually starting to stand up for human rights or something.

3. Boycotting the olympics won't do jack shit
The sooner we realize that, the sooner we can start talking about real solutions.

4. The Chinese government would be humiliated.
Hopefully we can use the opportunity to open people's eyes to what is going on there.

6. And they will still do absolutely nothing to change their behavior
Even if we imposed trade sanctions (fat chance that will happen) they still won't change their behavior, given the history of how ineffective trade sanctions are.

7. I would prefer that to an implicit endorsement of their government.
I prefer ineffectual to counter-productive.

8. Ineffectual makes us think that we're actually doing something about the problem
Instead of actually doing something about it.

14. Yes, and when you humiliate the Chinese, they add more lead
to all of the products we consume, and increase their exports 10x.

9. We did that under the Carter administration, and a hell of a lot of people
were really pissed off.

And it wasn't just the opening; it was the entire games.

Going to a host country for the Olympic Games isn't showing support for that country's policy. Boycotting would do nothing but create more conflict. We need less conflict and especially now. Let's go to the Olympics, compete, and try to use the Olympics to promote world unity and peace. While China has a poor human rights record and I in no way condone that, it just doesn't seem real pro-peace to boycott the Olympics.

11. idiotic waste of time
sure, punish athletes who've spent YEARS of their lives for ONE CHANCE at Olympic glory for political reasons (while at the same time turning a blind eye to the administrations evil plans for another war, this time with Iran)

13. Is she even relevant anymore?
She's the equivalent of fighting a forest fire with a wet dishrag.
