3. I'd laugh if, if Obama won the nom, he asked Hagel to be his VP.
All this "unity" bullshit has to be coming from somewhere, after all.

7. NOT VP! I like Hagel on some issues BUT
not a heartbeat away from the presidency. He's too consevative on many issues.

How about Secretary of Defense? I think he'd shine there.

9. Obama's pretty conservative too--he just doesn't show it.
I don't know if he'd want SECDEF. Who knows, though?

to publicly come out and criticize their friends.

Those who've been in the Senate for a number of years have forged friendships.

I think that about those who have endorsed a candidate, too.

As others have said, Hagel isn't running for re-election, but he's had this stance for some time now. Takes guts to go against the party line.
