Who In The World Is Rachel Maddow?
(I always loved that radio snippet from her show)

Reading Glenn Greenwald, he cites Maddow making an excellent point:

I feel like I've become kind of a semi-pro listener to the news, where I‘m always listening for Democratic candidates and even their surrogates to say John McCain. Every time I hear them say it, a little bell goes off in my mind, because that's what I think Democrats -- anybody who has an interest in John McCain not becoming president, whether or not you support Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton or Ralph Nader or anybody else in the race, Mike Gravel as the Libertarian -- if you want John McCain to not win, you have to start hitting him now, because the default position of the press toward John McCain is so positive that unless other candidates are actively and specifically going after him all the time, his free ride takes him right to the White House.

I would add: the American public really IS stupid enough to make it 3 in a row, unless we force them not to (by rubbing the idiocy and evil of McSame in their faces).

1. No one is going to do that until the primaries are over.
The MSM is saying that McCain would make a good bipartisan president and Hillary and Obama are fighting each other. That's what I keep hearing.

2. Can Hillary maybe spare us a McCain presidency and and herself her own dignity,
and concede that she cannot win the nomination?

5. Why would she do that

when dragging out the campaign including a protracted convention battle likely will lose the general election for the Dems, thereby setting her up to take the 2012 nomination in a cakewalk. She wants to WIN - any way it plays out.

3. We have a horrible war and an economy that could crash and burn very soon.
It's mind-bottling to think we could lose this election, but, yes, it's possible. We should be crushing McCain by 10 points right now.

It's because there are a lot of voters who don't vote their actual self interests-- like how the South is one of the biggest beneficiaries of federal spending/taxes, but they vote for Republicans who want to take away that benefit from them because they are scared of "Adam and Steve" getting married instead of Adam and Eve. You want to just slap them all hard and tell them to wake up.

4. I think the economy *is* crashing right now
what we are watching is the scramble for the few available life rafts.

The big money players like Bear Stearns got theirs, home buyers, not so much.
