Daddy Issues, War Lust in Oliver Stone's 'W'
Controversial Filmmaker's Early Script Depicts President Bush's Hard-Partying Youth and Feuds With His Father

<snip>

The movie, which starts filming this month with "No Country for Old Men" actor Josh Brolin playing Bush, paints a humanistic portrait of the president along with plenty of embarrassing anecdotes from his life story, judging by a copy of an early screenplay obtained by ABCNEWS.com.

The film's script captures purported notorious moments in Bush's life:

Rumors that his father pulled strings to get him into Harvard Business School.

His arrest during college for tearing down the goalposts at a football game.

Almost getting into a fistfight with his father when he comes home drunk one night in the 1970s.

His vow to quit drinking when he wakes up with a wicked hangover soon after his 40th birthday.

...

One explosive scene in the movie features press secretary Ari Fleischer complaining to Bush about longtime reporter Helen Thomas who questioned the run-up to the war in Iraq.

Bush explodes in a profanity-laced outburst , "Did you tell her I don't like motherf-- who gas their own people! Did you tell her I don't like a-- holes who try to kill my father! Did you tell her I'm going to kick his … a-- all over the Middle East?"

"It's fantasy," said Fleischer. "He used to talk like that before he was president? But he never talked like that around me. He mentioned his father once, in a public setting, at a fundraiser in Houston in 2002. "

1. Wrong director, too soon
I think this will not be the film that really needed to be made.

2. Yep, it's probably going to fail at the box office
It seems like people are already washing their hands of the Bush era. Why would anyone want to watch a movie about his life? I just want him gone and forgotten.

You're right, there are dozens of movies that can and will be made about the Bush era, but a pre-WH Bush biography is not really appropriate or even necessary.

3. He still needs to stand trial for war crimes.
Gone from the presidency, but not left free.

4. That's why BushInc could rise again after the 90s. Because the truth about Poppy's illegal
operations were swept under the oval office rug by a Democratic president we thought was on our side in wanting a government that was honest and open and accountable to the American people.

This rush to MOVE ON and PAST the criminal operations that have been done in our name is exactly what led to the emergence of Bush2, 9-11, this Iraq war and our soon to be war with Iran.

5. I think I will enjoy it very much ...thank you
I happen to like Oliver Stone movies and feel he has it a lot more right than wrong. The Right wing echo chamber loves to tear down his work but they are not credible IMO. Stone is...

11. I am not saying he does;nt make good movies
I am saying that the story is too raw for fictionalization, and this will not be a documentary film.

And I think that when the really effective film is made about the Dubya years, it needs to go from his first sadistic tendencies in childhood to his walking into the prison in Leavenworth, never to leave.

When it is made, I think it should be made in Bollywood, in the true Republican tradition of outsourcing.

6. Eh. Georgie's "daddy issues" are more about Mommy.
He used Daddy's old cabinet when he formed his administration. But his relationship with Mommy is much more complex.

14. I still can't believe that shrub got an MBA from Harvard.
I wonder how much he had to pay for his dissertation. Has anyone ever actually seen it? Does it really exist?

There's no way dumbass could have graduated without cheating.

My (very intelligent) sister-in-law has an MBA, and I saw how hard she worked to get it.

10. There's a story about Bush chasing his naked frat mates with a branding iron
to brand a delta symbol on their buttocks, representing his Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. The hazing supposedly involved beating the naked buttocks of the pledges raw and then branding them. The Yale University Inter-Fraternity Council fined Bush's fraternity for performing "physically and mentally degrading acts". But Bush defended this practice, saying it was insignificant and amounting to nothing more than mere cigarette burns. I wonder if Bush himself still has a delta brand on his butt. That's a scene I would like to see in the Stone movie.
