Governors daughter may have been "given" her MBA from University
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 12:42 PM by formerfed
Interesting story,,,,

An investigation by The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette newspaper concluded that Gov. Joe Manchins daughter Heather Bresch, had completed only 22 of the required 48 credit hours.

And how is this for having the right connections....

"Ms. Bresch, 38, works for Mylan Inc., the world’s third-largest generic drug company, which employs 2,000 people in Morgantown. The company’s chairman, Milan Puskar, is a major campaign contributor to Governor Manchin, and is the university’s largest donor, having given it $20 million in 2003.

Are there more coincidental ties to this saga? Well, the university’s president, Mike Garrison, is a high school classmate of Ms. Bresch’s and a longtime friend of the Manchin family. He served as chief of staff to former WV Gov. Bob Wise, and was a consultant and a lobbyist for Mylan."

Garrison also allegedly has business ties to members of the university board. This led many critics to charge that his university presidential 2006 appointment had been rigged in his favor from the beginning. Enough so that the Faculty Senate took the rare step last April of voting no confidence in him, even before he was appointed.

Ms. Bresch has insisted that she earned her degree, and university officials have blamed a failure to transfer records for nearly half of her course work to the appropriate office for the situation, as documents were moved to electronic format from paper. But so far, the university and Ms. Bresch have not produced copies of her transcripts, receipts or other proof of her having paid for course work, or documents from the courses where grades seemed to have been entered years after “incompletes” were given.

How do the Alumi feel about this?? Four of them responded...

"Your handling of this situation tarnishes the name of West Virginia University and calls into question every degree it has awarded.".....

"I for one plan to sue," said another. "My degree isn't worth squat anymore. When the full extent of this gets out the reputation of WVU will be completely in the toilet.".....

"Records destroyed???? Right, and the dog ate my homework. Shame!" said one alumnus, referring to the university's explanation that Ms. Bresch was the victim of a massive records snafu......

"Good morning. I just wanted to ask how the cover-up is going," said another. "You're going to need a whole lot of paint to whitewash this one.".....

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has notified the university that it will file suit to force the school to turn over Ms. Bresch’s records.

2. Whats new? Dubya got legacy degrees from Yale and Harvard
C- student at Yale, and * professor at Harvard said he was at the very bottom of his class. His total incompetence is proof enough.

The privileged get favoritism for large donations to their campus or other perks.

4. I think
She should have to undergo a quiz from all her professors ala Rodney Dangerfield in 'Back to School'.

And it should be televised for our amusement.

5. A governor's daughter? What's this country coming to?
I thought it was only the sons of influential people who were given their "gentleman's" MBA.
