Police fear foul play in disappearance of 7-year-old South Salt Lake girl

Police said Tuesday morning they are "concerned there is foul play involved" in the case of a 7-year-old South Salt Lake girl who has been missing since 2 p.m. Monday.

An Amber Alert was issued at 9:30 a.m. for Hser Ner Moo, (pronounced Soo Na Moo).

South Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Snyder said the alert was not issued earlier because there was no evidence of an abduction, there was a possibility the girl might be with friends and they were waiting to see if she returned this morning.

But given the time that had elapsed, the fact that overnight searches came up empty and that the girl was not with classmates, the alert was issued Tuesday morning.

Missing child

Hser Ner Moo is 3 feet 8 inches tall, 45 pounds, with long black hair. She is missing her two front teeth.
The girl was last seen leaving her apartment wearing a pink dress, black and pink sneakers and a pink coat described as traditional Burmese garb.

Saw this morning on SLC channel via cable...so sad. Was wondering why two channels had entirely different descriptions of her dress....one said jeans and pink coat...other said pink dress with traditional Burmese jacket?

8. This isn't too far from my house. I drove by today taking my cousin to school.

She attends St. Ann's Catholic School, which is located a stones throw from this apartment complex. A lot of cops and FBI there. It's a very low income area of the city, so the apartment complex isn't very nice. I hope she is found. Salt Lake always seems to have its share of missing people. It's weird, actually. Elizabeth Smart, Lori Hacking, that Norton girl, all within a few years of each other (all murdered).

I have to drive by the aparments on my way to and from the school and the news crews, as well as the police, are there, but no sign of the little girl. I have a feeling if she was kidnapped, they're long gone from Salt Lake by now. :(

I remember Destiny Norton and how horrible that was, only to find her neighbor had killed her and stashed her body in the basement. I'm hoping, praying, she just got lost and is scared, confused and hiding somewhere. But I don't know, she couldn't have gotten that far by herself and it's been over 24 hours now and no one has found any trace of her.

SALT LAKE – The body of a missing 7-year-old girl was found at an apartment in South Salt Lake on Tuesday night -- not far from where she disappeared yesterday.

Authorities sealed off the area near 2200 South and 500 East at approximately 8:45 p.m. and medical examiners arrived at the scene. Witnesses said investigators found the body of Hser Ner Moo inside one of the apartments -- reportedly beaten to death.

At least three people were taken into custody after the discovery of the girl's body on Tuesday. Those arrested were not identified.

The only consolation for the family, is that she was found and they don't have to spend years wondering what happened and sick with worry. :cry:

47. Yes, that's true. Thank goodness they at least know where she is. I had to have the talk again with

my kids. The last 2 child abductions/murders here where done by neighbors. I made it clear that no matter what neighbors who you think you know say (including it's okay, I spoke with your mom or dad) to come with them, to come tell me or my husband IMMEDIATELY.

That poor little girl. This is so horrible.
