AAR on WWRL update
got this form letter today from WWRL about AAR.

Tuesday, April 01, 2008

Dear Valued Listener

WWRL is dedicated to providing the most consistent and progressive programming to our listeners. We are very aware that “continuity is broadcast currency”, so when changes are made it responds to the needs of listeners and the company respectively.

The decision to discontinue some Air America programs is the result of a changed contractual climate not necessarily in the best interest of WWRL.

WWRL is proud to be the progressive voice in ether of conservatism and has introduced the most successful of progressive show in Ed Schultz (12-3pm) and the diverse perspective of Al Sharpton (8-10pm).

The queen of radio Randi Rhodes (3-6pm) and the exciting Rachel Maddow (6-8pm),

are testament s of our commitment of dealing with the issues progressively. Be mindful that Air America’s weekend broadcast schedule on WWRL1600 remains intact.

In recognition of the national health crisis we think the Health and Wellness segment is appropriately timed.
that is the infomercial that they are running instead of Lionel

WWRL like any organization will continue to adjust to the overall changing business climate while categorically making clear, that in the interest of listeners we have never been ambivalent but instead very deliberate in our business dealing and honesty to our audience.

Rennie Bishop

Program Director

WWRL1600

1. Health and Wellness segment? I no longer listen to AAR live; I'm a premium member
and download the podcasts, fortunately.

2. Translation
"The Lionel show both sucked and blew so hard, that even an infomercial disguised as a PSA will probably bring in better ratings. Or at least all us to look other human beings in the eye again. So we're going to give that a try. Thanks for listening!"

6. Lionel
is quite funny, if a bit odd sense of humor.

and to remove Thom Hartmann? I like Ed Schultz when I have heard him on the air in Florida visiting my parents, but not at the expense of Thom.

3. They have that tedious health and wellness quackery all weekend
... long. I'd rather listen to reruns of political programming that I can't hear during the week ( most of us work, after all).

Too bad about Lionel... I was starting to "get" him, though it took a long time.

And what's this: Ed Schulltz in for Thom Hartman? When did that start?

It's a rinky-dink station anyway; barely audible if you drive as far outside the city as Westchester. AAR should look for something with a stronger signal and leave WWRL to megavitamin junkies and coffee enema buffs.

7. Yeah, I like how they try to make the Health & Wellness segment sound so altruistic ...
... when it's a paid infomercial. Pathetic, WWRL.

4. Does AAR have Al Sharpton on their schedule...
in some areas? I already get Al SHarpton on another station but I have never heard him on AAR.
