For you astrology nuts; What's your candidate's sign?
I've never looked too seriously at astrology, but I've always found an unusual level of accuracy for something that really should be arbitrary.
How close do you think these assesments are?

Hillary Clinton;

Hillary Clinton
October 26, 1947
Chicago, Illinois

Sun: Scorpio
Moon: Pisces
Rising: Gemini

A Sun in Scorpio reveals that Hilary is quiet, deep, emotionally complex and intensely private. She is not a person who is easy to get to know and understand. She is extremely sensitive but disinclined to show it, allowing only a special few into her inner circle (known officially as 'Hillaryland'). Very instinctive and intuitive, she usually has a strong, gut reaction to people; her feelings and perceptions go much deeper than words.

Barack Obama;

Barack Obama
August 4, 1961
Honolulu, Hawaii

Sun: Leo
Moon: Gemini
Rising: Scorpio

Sun in Leo guarantees Barack is proud and intensely individual. He wants to stand out, to be his best and to be recognized for his unique contributions. He has big dreams and the determination, spirit and vitality to bring them into being. He also has a noble, romantic heart and a love of the dramatic and colorful. He wants to be great and to receive the love and applause of an adoring audience, even if that audience is one special person. He needs someone to believe in him and his dreams. Though he appears radiantly self-confident, he is actually quite dependent on the support, love and recognition of others.

4. Isn't that funny? I wasn't surprised by that either.
You can always pick out a Leo.

I really can't get over the level of accuracy I've seen in astrology.

3. That's funny. Scorpios and Leo's I've know have always fought.
The conventional wisdom is that the Leo is bound to win the popularity contest, but I've always been fond of Scorpios. (As a pisces, I am supposed to be more compatible with them.) As far as policy goes, the Leo would supposedly have the most holistic ideas which integrate everybody, but the scorpio is more likely to have the deep insight into complex and hidden things. Maybe Hillary should form a think tank or something. :)

7. well since obama's rising sign is scorpio in some astrology systems HE'S the scorpio
Edited on Tue Apr-01-08 04:09 PM by pitohui
we make too much of the simple sun sign system, there's another system that i haven't seen used in years that goes by the rising signs, is it from india?

both of these profiles are so general as to be worthless and would apply to anyone in the public eye

at this time of century i'm no longer interested in "psychics" who tell you stuff you already know (the past) or tell you about your personality (how sensitive you are, how strong you are, oh, who doesn't want to be, who doesn't imagine that they are strong and sensitive?) -- all i want to hear is verifiable predictions for the short term so i can see for themselves if the predictions come to pass

i've met psychics who are the real thing but very, very, very rarely

22. I would say psychic phenomenon are very rare.
I've experienced it myself, and have known others who seem to experience it more often, and others almost not at all. But I think we make a mistake when we talk about "psychics", because it seems to be a phenomenon that lots of people experience rarely, but I have never meet anybody who was demonstrably psychic all the time, though I have meet people who claimed it.

As far as telling you about your personality, the zodiac plays a social role. You can never see the whole game when you're on the field, and I think looking for evidence of astrological truth with humans as passive machines misses the whole point. "Pisces" effects my personality because I know what it means, and have interactions with other human beings who know what it means. And that's enough to make it interesting for me.

6. That's part of the 'art'. Never too specific, but general characterizations are
uncannily accurate.

18. Although I believe in all stuff woo woo,
I recall seeing a show with The Amazing Randy (who I don't like at ALL) that was pretty amusing.

He had a classroom full of students and asked for a show of hands from those who "believed" in astrology. Very few raised their hands -- probably fewer than a quarter of the people.

He had everyone write down their name and birth date and pass it in. Next day he handed out their PERSONALIZED horoscope. After they read them, he asked, "how many people think there's something to astrology now?". Almost 100% raised their hands.

Then he had each person hand their 'chart' to the person behind them, and receive the one from the person in front. Turns out they were all identical.

VERY general -- You stand up for what you believe in, yet know when to acquiesce, etc.

That being said, I do believe those who have studied astrology and go beyond the general-in-the-newspaper type of info, can be very specific and accurate.

23. That's hilarious!
The type of accuracy I've seen comes from knowing what the most overt characteristics of every sign are supposed to be and then, after I've had enough interaction with someone, I'll take a stab at it.

I've found I hit it on the head almost 40% of the time, and 60% by a second guess. Those numbers should be more like 8% and 16%.

Also, if I hit it off with a person, especially a woman, within 10 seconds, I've found there's an 80% chance that they're one specific 'sign'.

I've just personally found it uncanny that way, and I although I don't put any stock in predictions, I know there's something to it.

8. very general descriptions, although Barack appears to me
as a typically strong, enjoys the spotlight Leo - Hillary is one of the most outgoing Scorpio's, but lots of Leo planets in her chart.
