2. I am happy that I'm flying Lufthansa to Europe in May.
I'm sure it is heavily subsidized by the government and I do feel secure (I also expect them to handle my luggage properly when I change planes in Frankfurt! German efficiency, can't beat it!).

3. The industry is moribund.
There's no way that the airline industry can continue to
provide service at anything like an "economy fare" price
as liquid fuels become increasingly expensive/difficult
to obtain. It will be interesting to see if the United
States Air Force gets anywhere *THIS TIME* with their
coal-fired planes (with their appalling carbon emissions)
'cause that's the only way planes will keep flying as
the oil ramps up in price ("runs out").

5. I saw a statement once about the profitability of airlines that I can not forget
I do not recall where I read this and I have no idea if its true or not but it seems to ring just the right bell. Take it for what its worth but here it is:

'If you added up the net profits from every airline that ever flew from the day the Wright brothers flew their first craft until today you would get a negative number.'
