Israeli Citizens Will Be Given New Gas Masks
--clip---

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's Security Cabinet authorized Wednesday a plan to issue the population upgraded gas masks as part of preparations for a possible future, non-conventional war.

Most citizens had gas mask kits from the 2003 Gulf war, when Israel feared it might come under Iraqi Scud missile salvos.

The masks were collected in recent months to undergo inspections and upgrades.

Israeli officials said the kits would be reissued by year's end and cautioned the public not to assume the move is connected to any anticipated conflict with Iran or Syria.

As they say in Glasgow, "Aye, RIGHT!"

2. So can we assume that when they finish reissuing masks, the attack is on?

3. Perhaps. It was just last November that reports out of Israel indicated that they wouldn't
refurbish or replace the masks. IMHO the civil defense preparations of late are the greatest of all indicators.

4. Indicators that the Israeli government has decided
to protect its populus?

Unlike America, which plans for the previous action, Israel plans for the next one.

That's the difference.

It also demonstrates that Israel can never ever be allowed the notion by its, shall we say, critics, of 'defense' - that they are always on the offensive, even when they're attacked as they were in 1967.

5. The fact that the israeli gov't is doing an 'about face' on the distribution of masks and other
recent 'civil defense' preparations can not be dismissed.

Of course they have a "duty" to protect their populace but it has to be noted that a recent uptick in CD preparations are being made.

Make what of it you will, but IMO somethings 'in the works'...
