Did DU get a new font format or is it my computer? |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-02-08 02:04 PM by goclark
My computer crashed for four days.
The design of the page is different and even when I increase the font size it is still smaller. :(
I have a vision problem that makes it better for me the bigger the font and the darker the print.

1. You might need to tinker with the resolution |
|
If you're on a PC, go to "control panel," "display" and "appearance." On the lower left you'll see some numbers and a slide with "low" and "high." Slide it over to "low" if you've got room and that should enlarge all the windows, text and all.
The other fix for text is to hit ctrl+scroll. It will also increase or decrease the size of the window, although it will be temporary and you'll have to do it again tomorrow. You do need a mouse with a scroll wheel for this one.

which is why I know what to do about it.
It usually takes me two days to recover after a crash, including reloading all the programs online and finding the keys to register them again.

it actually seems to change sometimes if I re-log. I thought it was my ms vision problem since no one else had commented.

5. Are you only seeing the problem on DU? |
|
Or is it in all your webpages viewed by your browser? Are the fonts on your desktop smaller as well? Also, which browser do you use?
I also have bad vision and can relate with your plight.

7. For some reason my fonts are lighter |
|
than ever before.
When I open my email, the fonts are faint.
It's hard to explain because I've only used Email and DU.

8. There's a "switch to larger fonts" link at the top of the forum page. |

9. If it's in your email and browser I imagine it's your contrast is lower |
|
Try increasing your contrast and see if that helps. If not I'd suggest switching to a darker font. This is what I have to do. I also set my font scaling to 120 dpi in Windows.
In IE click on tools, internet options then on the fonts button. Scroll through them until you find one you can see more clearly.
In FF clink on tools, options and then set your font. You can also adjust your font size there.
In your email reader you'll go to tools and then have to poke around until you find something that says display or view. From their you should be able to find the font selector.
I hope this helped.
